Land Air Mechs? Yes? No? Maybe?

I'd like to see LAMs but letter as an expansion.

You'd have to add aerotech to the game. That's huge.

No, if they implement LAMs, then they should either be non-player-controlled scenario based things, or they should be an asset you can call in with some manner of high level commander ability.

I would love to see LAMs but I do have to admit that it would have to be in a later expansion.

Maybe they could just restrict them to the Hybrid Mode for starters so they wouldn't be able to fly across the entire map rapidly?

its an idea, but for now game play doesn't look like it will let it in but for a scenario like last stand or planet fall would be good
( for anyone that doesn't play TT planet fall is when you get your lance vs tons of 50t or less mech's in a city fight)

Yeah lets just get into the basics before we jump the gun into air combat.

LAMs are hard to fit in, especially since it's likely the maps are going to be relatively small, at least in comparison to the distances a LAM can travel. It's also difficult to deal with when it's up in the air. If you let them scout via LAM, you could basically just park yourself up in the sky and 'scout' the whole battlefield with little to no recourse for the other side than to have their own LAM, which turns basically into an aerospace fight.

It's easier to implement some alternate "air" plane like has been done in a bunch of TT games. But, that's just extra development.

If they put aerospace in, and some ramifiactions on the result of the aerospace fight in regards to your drop, then I could see LAMs becoming a handy way to compete in both aspects of that. As it is, I think they'd just cause a lot of problems, and be hard to balance. As a land-based mech, or even in hybrid mode, they're kind of crappy.

LAMs were dropped from core (Level 2) Battletech for obvious reasons. Putting them here would be silly. It would make more sense to put in tanks, hovercraft, drop ships, and infantry before LAMs and aerotech should ever be implemented
