I am so gonna ger hazed for saying this but. . .

IS (player base) Vs Clans (NPCs similar to Eve Incursions)

Suddenly, all the different factions working together O.O Kinda want!

That would be very cool.

I'd rather see the major events (Clan Invasion, Battle of Luthien, Tukayyid, etc...) be run as Dev vs. Players. PvE can be fun, but without phenomenal AI the player's simply dominate.

I wouldn't mind PvE vs. the Clans. I'd just steer away from Clan Wolf and destroy me some Jade Falcon scum.

I hate to admit it but I'd rather have PvE than the unseen Mechs.

If the game is a success. They could make a fortune by spending a year on a massive solo/co-op campaign.

Who would not pay to unlock it?

My friends and I like co-op games, when we don't particularly feel the mood for pvp. It breaks things up and provides some diversity in gameplay styles. These could be storyline, but even just a progressively hard Horde mode would be great.

I wouldn't mind some PVE combat if they treat it like a horde or waves of mechs kinda deal. That would actually in some areas enforce team work just as PVP does.

I think SOME NPC coding would be nice. A little private test map where you can try out your newest load out on a variety of moving and non-moving targets to get a grip on things like heat generation and recharge times, as well as travel times.

Bot coding would take a lot of work, testing, and time. Since it's not slated for release or a feature, you're looking at a very long time before it's feasible. It could be if the game is that successful but I really doubt it.

I'd play it.

More than that, I'd pay to play it.
Probably $5-10 depending on content available.

Because bots have never been coded before by anyone and need to be done from scratch? UDK comes with bot support. I feel you are exaggerating the difficulty of the task.

Havn't they already been working on MW5 or reboot whatever for years? If those were not fully pvp I'd think they already know how to code AI. Taking the time to set it all up while trying to release what they've got now would be the time sink they can't afford yet. I get the feeling PvE is coming sooner or later. If not in MWO then perhaps another PGI title. Aren't they also doing MW:T?

PvE would be great as I don't always want to do PvP all the time. PvP gets boring after a couple of hours. Than again I wouldn't mind PvE missions that can affect certain aspects of the BattleTech Lore by advancing the timeline or just be able to take part in the historic canon battles from 3049 and up. With the Clan Invasion set to happen next year, it would be nice that a match gets interrupted due to Clanners invading as someone had posted earlier in other forum posts (sorry to whoever posted it for not quoting you directly).

Personally, I think that clan mechs should be made available to players, but they should be balanced in the same way that the tabletop game is; You will always have fewer mechs on the clan side than on the inner sphere side, with each clan 'mech being worth between 1.5-2.0 times an inner sphere mech of the same class.

But I do also agree that I'd like to see PVE, it's just that I will assume that AI is going to be dumb - While I was wishing for a singleplayer version of this game initially, I recognize that AI coding takes a long, long time to even approach being smart. Anyone that remembers trying to bring lancemates through a city map in Mechwarrior 4 knows how stupid AI can be.

As such, I'd suggest that PVE missions be reserved for missions like "Pirate Hunting", "Rebellion Quelling", and the like. If we do see some PVE, it'd be nice for them to start including some of the vehicles from the Battletech universe as well, though keep them as AI only units. I would like to see vehicles be equally as fragile as in the tabletop game and with similar weaknesses (like motive system damage and having the crew get stunned), but not make them the throw-away weapons that they did in Mechwarrior 4; Tanks that die from so much as getting sneezed on, and the ilk.

I'd like to see some group PVE for unit training and practice purposes if nothing else.

I am in full support of a single player component, both missions and an arena-esk place to test the staying power of mech builds

Having a PVE option in-game would be an interesting addition for the following reasons:
1- Would make a threatening testing ground for new mechs / new strategies
2- Like in LoL, would be a relaxing break from... let's say... the aggressive banter that random PVP ensues
3- Would also be an gentler training ground for starting players, especially players with no previous Mechwarrior experience.

Using LoL's AI game as a template (for those unfamiliar with Leage of Legend, AI games are 5 player coop against a 5 AI team with a challenging difficulty) would work very well as a training ground, since it would basically be the same game.

Of course, having single player campaigns à la MW would be fun... but imagine lance-sized coop campaigns *drool*. Glorious.

A "simulator" style of implementation where you select your enemies (for no in-game benefits) would be amenable to me.
It is a system that would not be as used as much as the PvP given the sentiment of most people here. Even though the principal design of the game is PvP, it would allow a little breather from the PvP system. I think most people like to "Comp Stomp," even if only once in a while.

The down side is that it would allow one to play-test 'Mechs. Maybe not wholly accurate, given the level of the computer opponents, but as far as planetary conditions and heat levels, it would be accurate.
