In the recent quirk update the Victors lost their negative quirks. That's a good thing.

Nevertheless, it's classification as Tier 1 mech feels wrong. Formerly, the Victor was Tier 1 because he supported meta play using it's mobility and jump jets combined with ppc/ballistic pinpoint as perfect jump sniper.

After the nerfs of
- ballistics
- ppcs
- jumpjets

and the introduction of falling damage jump sniping has effectively died out.

What's left is a comparatively light armored 80 ton mech with a quite limited number of low slung weapon hardpoints.

It should be noticed that there is no weight balance within a mech weight class. Therefore, Locusts, Blackjack, Dragons, Awesome and all other light weights usually are classified as low tier mech. Not so the Victors.

The Victor has to compete with

- 100 ton DDC Atlas
- 95 ton "I got plenty of AC5s" Banshee
- 100 Dakka wolf
- Upcoming King Crab

After all the nerfs, I fail to see the advantage of the Victors in general compared to of other assaults. Especially the Victor 9K and 9B are definitely not Tier 1 mechs.

When im agree about T1, i desagree about VTRs at all - its fast assault mech that fills niche of support-harraser wery well. Fast, manuvrable and with good hardpoints its one of the best fire supports IMHO (if we didnt count LRMs and scouts as fire support). Main advantage of VTR is JJ an speed, even with STD engines (all mine VTRs are build round STD). It has enoth armor to brawl for some time (ofc not face-to-face with 95-100 tonn mechs, but those are easy to kill becouse VTR 1st advantage - manuvrability). VTRs are more challenging compared to heavier mechs but they got a lot of agvantages if you know how to use it.

P.S. IMHO all VTRs are fine, it was and it is one of my favotires as well ahs HGNs and 9K gives me 4th place in last tournament.
P.P.S. I prey that VTRs quirks will be not so dissapointing as HGNs....

yes, I think too that old meta has broken the stats...it deserve a tier revision. why not add some brawl quirks ?

Fix JJs a bit first, but yes, I think even the Teir 1 mechs deserve a tweak of some kind, and it still does feel lacking compared to many other mechs.

Definitly. Atm it's a light assault as broad as an atlas, with low slung weapons mostly in very vulnerable arms, and it's even lacking in hardpoint's. While they can take ac/20's, arm movement is extremly limited. The K-Version switches disadvantages, leaving you with even less firepower and a bit more mobility. Not to mention the lack of strong heavy energy-weapons, making the reliance on few big weapons more problematic.

I'd classify it as Tier3, if at all. It's nowhere as good at it's niche as a misery/jagermech is in brawling/fire support. And skirmishing got harder with the amount of (c)lrm and power creep (quirks+clans). JJ's are nice, but even massed add only moderate mobility at this point. A good pilot ofc can still be succesfull, but that matters for most mechs, including the heavily buffed dragon.

Btw, where does the idea 'speed is the victor's advantage' come from? Afaik it doesn't handle any better than every other mech, and it's surrounded by high-engine mechs, like the orion, awesome, battlemaster, timberwolf, etc. And the victor's side torsos are pretty big, making xl's even more risky.

edit: Please mind i'm only talking about the normal victors, i can't comment on the dragon slayer, and how he performs.

Sorry, I just love the VIctors. Maybe it is due to my way of playing them, but I have none of the aforementioned probelms. Tier I, hands down, and neither nerfs nor quirks required.

That you don't have any problems with playing a Victor doesn't mean that the Victor is Tier 1. You have to compare the Victor objectively with other mechs that all received quirks.

For example the Highlander is just a heavier Victor with similar hardpoints but even it is 10 ton heavier and has jump jets too it got quirks. Logic? I fail to see one.
