Hello,

Have been playing MWO for about 8 or 9 months off and on my K/D ratio is around .13. Time is short most days but still get about 13-40 games per week.

I have not joined a unit or used team speak, the computer I use is a Sony Vaio with an I5 processor. Is there any special headset I need?

Has anyone here joined a Clan? What can I expect?

I sincerely appreciate any non-flaming responses.

The best thing to do is to hit the Factions forums;

http://mwomercs.com/...s-inner-sphere/

http://mwomercs.com/...factions-clans/

http://mwomercs.com/...ons-merc-corps/

These have recruitment threads for the various units in the game. Give you a chance to read about ones you are interested in and see if they meet your play style and time.

Alternativily you can post in the Hiring Hall and wait and see if any unit contacts you.

Personally, I like to be more proactive and would try to hunt out a unit that interests me rather than waiting around. :D

I doubt anyone would require a special headset (although obviously one that does not have voice level or static/interference issues is a must LOL) and TeamSpeak is free to download.

As for expectations, well, that will greatly vary from unit to unit. Some units may require 5 hours of game time 3 days a week, some may only ask for 3 hours a week, or have no requirement at all. Some may have specific mech requirements, some may just want to drop in a group and have no limits. Again, checking out the Faction threads with info on the units is the best first stop and then contact the units you have interest in and get more info.

One thing you should expect would be a much more rewarding experience, as no matter what level of play the unit you join is, a group with voice comms will fare better than 12 random pilots with only clumsy text chat. :D

Any headset will do, I've used dirt cheap ones I've been given for free and it woked fine until my child broke it. TS3 is the most commonly used voice program. Free to download.

There are faction-oriented sections of the forum full of groups looking for new players, if you want to be Clan-themed, head on over

You should look at the Clan boards to see if any of them catch your interest.

I will shamelessly promote Clan Spirit Cat. They are a great bunch of guys to play with. They are fun, but serious when it comes to fighting. If you are into the lore, their SaKhan is the person to talk to.

Check them out!

P.S. - If you want to join a unit, a headset is going to be essential.

.19? Is that a typo? Do you play a lot of support lights that don't get kills?

Now, there are plenty of units that won't care (mine included), but .19 seems rather low.

Headsets are useful. Logitech makes a fairly good $30 USB headset that I recommend if you want a good budget solution.

No .13 is no typo. I have been getting a few Kills each week but I am no Kai Allard-Liao even in a War Hawk.

Thanks folks for the kind responses, I will search out Clan Units including Clan Cat Sprit.
