Outside of the gauss dire wolf, we've had a bit of a reprieve from PPFLD for several months now.

However, the number of I.S. Ac20s and PPCs on the field just doubled overnight with this patch. Now with accelerated velocity and lower cooldowns than ever seen before.

I can see why PGI buffed most lasers at the same time to compensate, but now time to kill is probably at a record low. One mistake and your armor is insta-stripped.

Is the return of high PPFLD a good thing or a bad thing after months of Clan laser and LRM spam? Do all mechs perhaps need an armor boost?

PPC speed got increased by 100, which puts all of them still below the community recommended 1100-1200 m/s.

I think it's a good thing personally. PPCs needed some buffing after being nerfed into useless blobs at long range.

Hopefully with beefier pulse lasers, (slightly) faster PPCs, and better laser damage, a team with long range weapons might finally stand a chance against a team deathballing with SRM boats.

PPCs reminded me of the fireballs the cacodemons shot in DOOM

Rule of MMOs:

"It Killed me. It's OP!

I couldn't kill it. It needs a buff"

These are not just true of MWO, but of every MMO since the Beginniiing. Of Tiiiiiime

I think the fact that we are seeing more variance in the "weapon x is OP. Please nerf" threads shows that PGI is getting closer to a more consistent weapon balance.

Why just last night i got 4 kills, including a solo kill, and 9 assists in my com-3A. Weapon balance is heading in the right direction.

Wow, 13 kills+Assists in a match!

IS has more PPFLD than the clans, and IS mechs were out in force. I expect it to even out as the new clan mechs hit and folks find new love for old mechs.
