Haven't you guys wondered how they came up with some of the values for the quirks?

https://static.mwome...re%20Quirks.pdf

If you look, there are some pretty arbitrary sounding numbers floating around in that huge metric crapton of quirks they came up with.

For example, the BJ-3 gets a 43.8 percent boost to torso yaw speed.

Whaaaaattt? How exactly did they get that number? Did the playtester say " You know guys, 43.5 really sucks, and 44 is really OP, but 43.8 really hits the sweet spot. Let's put that in there and we can cure cancer and end poverty."

Also, exactly how many man-hours of playtesting did they have to use to get these figures? I feel sorry for the poor fool who had to move the mech side to side and up and down a thousand times to figure out what felt better. You have to think they got a little crazy after an hour or two of that kind of monotony.

These numbers are either just pencil-whipped by the poor dev who was tasked with dreaming all this crap up, or they got bored and just threw random numbers around to keep the number-crunchers entertained.

OR, there was some sort of spreadsheet balancing tomfoolery. Or it was a number that allowed the torso to yaw round-number-X degrees over X seconds. Or it was the fastest they could make it without the game servers melting into a puddle.

Or it was carefully crafted to provoke a reaction such as this!

Just had a look at my cataphract's quirks... Ilya muromets - one of the better performing IS mechs for a while now (in my opinion), gets a whole pile of sweet new quirks, VS CTF-3D - was once easily the best IS heavy, when poptarting was all the rage, nowhere near as good now since the ppc/jumpjet changes, but is still supposedly "tier 1" and so vastly superior to the other 'phracts that it gets straight up nothing.

I, erm...what..?

Somewhere between none and zero, it seems.
