The Orion chassis has too large a center torso to be a competitive brawler. The left torso is too large to carry a XL engine if under a lot of fire. So the Orion will always be mid to long range to be most effective.

The Protector carries a PPC, Gauss Rifle, SRM4, MLAS. It got quirks for an AC20, SRM6, missile range. I would never use any of that on my Protector, except missile range. Various energy weapons and LRMs make the Orions in general shine. Get into any kind of close range fight and it's quickly torn apart because it has unmissable center torso and left torso and torsos easily hit from the sides. The only way to shrink those fat targets is range, and at mid-range the Orion starts to compete.

So.... with all the other Mechs getting such great buffs, gameplay has become even more challenging for the Orion and my Protector which in essence got all negative buffs except for the tougher structure points, which do not keep the side torsos from being instantly blown off on a single hit sometimes.

To be fair I tried the AC20 brawler for today and it did not work. Once I got back to my mid-range skirmisher Orion-P things got much easier.

So consider what Orions excel at when giving them the next pass of quirks. Thanks.

I'm still questioning why the Blackjack Arrow variant got an AC/20 quirk when it comes with 6 Ballistic hardpoints loaded up with MGuns... I mean... I guess at least I have the other ballistic quirks to work with... but why would I add an AC/20 on it when I've got 6 MGuns, 2 ER LLs, and 1 MPL to melt away armor with?
