This may be late in coming, but I am compelled to ask... nay, beg that you consider placing a single Energy Weapon slot in the head of the King Crab, firing just below the cockpit. I speak not just for myself, but for kaiju fans everywhere, and for the generations to come after. For the love of all things cheesy and poorly dubbed, let our giant monsters breathe FIRE.
Speaking seriously, a little bit of zombification is a bonus for most pilots, and a head-slot weapon isn't too terribly unbalancing in the larger scheme of things. It isn't strictly canon, of course, but I think that ship has sailed for most Mechs and Mech varients already.
Besides: Fire. Breathing. Monster. Mech.
Or, y'know, a more literal "laser vomit", if that's your thing
