Because the Adder is a Clan mech. Clan mechs are, by definition, more difficult to customize than a 450 year old Atlas that doesn't have any original parts. Duh. Even I can see how that makes sense.

I mean, seriously, it's a LOT easier to customize a Ferrari or a Lamborghini than it is to cusomize a '72 Chevelle, right?

The parts for the imports are a LOT easier to find and a lot cheaper.....

I think my point got misinterpreted. This isn't about the flamer in the Adder as much as it's a question why is the Adder having this rule enforced on it when other clan mechs aren't. The Timber S is a perfect example it was able to remove its JJs where as the other clan mechs had all theirs fixed so PGI made the timber S JJs fixed to be fair to all the other clan mechs. So if they are going to allow the ice ferret and other clan mechs to remove weapons or equipment from their head and CT it is only fair the rule apply to all clan mechs or they enforce the fixed gear in the head and CT for all clan mechs.

It was my understanding back in the early days of clan mechs that the fixed head and CT gear was always supposed to be fixed. This was supposed to be another means the devs used to balance the Clans to IS tech by further limiting available tonnage.

By the way I do agree the flamer needs a major rework to be viable in this game.

its stated as fixed in lore,
and all variants state it as fixed,
so you cant remove it from the CT,

that said i have a Feature Suggestion topic,
(Engery Adder, Zephyr Head, New Omni-Pod!)
asking for a new ADR Head Omni-Pod that i feel way fix the problem,
adding the new ADR-Z HD-Omni-pod with 1Energy hard-point,
it have -20% head armor, and +10% energy cool-down,

that way lore wise its still within range of legitimacy,
and PGI has created New Variants in the past(AS7-DDC),
so its completely possible to the rules in MWO,
