All of the threads that addressed this issue are now locked. But I wanted to talk about this, and get some feedback concerning weapon modules, and the additional amount of heat they add. I noticed last night as me and my brother (Dingo01) were equipping our new centurions for short range combat.

We equipped our Cent-AH with three MG's and three SRM 6's complete with a standard 250 engine would let us pack brawling firepower with speed and maneuverability. 81 KPH without speed tweak. We also upgraded to Ferro Fibrous armor, Endo Steel Internal Structure, and Double Heat Sinks. He was copying my build that just allows me to wreck mechs at close range.

He said to me over coms, that is awesome! 1.82 Heat management! I looked down at mine as I was confirming and noticed that my heat management was at 1.09. I said to him "what the HeXX!!" How are you getting that, when I am at 1.09....? At first we thought it was a bug. However, after some digging we discovered that when I put on my increased range weapons modules. SRM 6 lvl 5, and MG lvl 5 it dramatically dropped my ability for heat dissipation.

As you can understand I was a little perturbed at this, as I have spent over 30 million in weapons modules since they announced they were getting rid of Micro heat. I tried to go back into the forums to see if they had redacted this, but couldn't seem to find it anywhere.

I have now spent money that I would not have wasted on useless (to me) weapons modules! The minor amount of increased range is not a good trade for the heat dissipation that I lose from using them.

Can anyone help me find any information on this? Is this a bug? or is this how weapons modules are supposed to work? Any information you can give would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
~Sand

I have noticed this too. I have like 5 weapon modules, that I no longer use. Yes it increases my heat substantially. If I would have known this I wouldn't have wasted my time or effort to unlock them.

^What he said

As far as I heard, the bonus heat only shows up in the mech-lab, and doesn't actually add heat ingame. Haven't tested it myself really...

Well the cool down ones do obviously do effect your heat. Its the range ones that dont.

Exactly what I thought, and I could see the cool down lvl 5 adjusting your heat scale, but the range is really perplexing me. I took it into a match with the range weapon modules attached, and then without and noticed quite the difference. It IS effecting my heat scale in game. But I can confirm it (when I get home, I'm at my work computer at the moment) I'll throw up some screen shots to show you that it's not just my imagination. I will probably need to speak to a PGI rep to shed some light on the subject as well.

Thanks for the insight guys! MUCH Appreciated!

Edit: added match information

Official statement on this issue can be found in this thread:
http://mwomercs.com/...or-patch-13349/

Quote

In MechLab, equipping a Cooldown or Range Module appears to decrease your 'Mechs Heat Management value.
The reduction of your heat management value in MechLab when equipping Cooldown or Range Modules is a bug that we plan to have resolved soon.
Please note that this apparent reduction in heat management is purely cosmetic and appears only in the MechLab. Your true heat management value while in a match is not affected.
