true but we currently have that problem with ECM and hard points. True hard points are great for changing entire variants of a mech, but currently any mech that can mount ECM is better than all other variants. Also you have problems with some mechs just not having the proper use. The Ravens are a good example. The hero mech has no energy hard points and before the quirk system was considered underpowered and generally useless because of the reliance on ballistic weapons.

For ECM, that's mostly a problem with the device being designed so derptastically. A well-designed (i.e. not obnoxious) ECM being restricted to only certain mechs wouldn't really be an issue.

The same goes for the hero Raven: if light ballistics (namely, Machine Guns) were more effective, not having an energy hardpoint wouldn't be quite a handicap. I also wish we had other future-timeline options like Magshot Gauss Rifles and Light Autocannons...

I believe that removing the instant convergence will solve many problems, like the need of ghost heat and mitigation of extreme alpha strikes. Not sure how much it will add load to the calculations for each shot (thus server load) but I think it is worth considering.
