And another challenge I'll not be part of.

Better group formation and in game VOIP, then I'll care.

As someone that drops in small to medium size groups regularly, I foresee the greatest threat to having fun in this event will be possibility of constant roffle stomps by the large competitive mech corps, despite the weight restrictions & 60 matches is quite a grind. that's my 2 cents worth... happy hunting all. ;)

The spam would be horrible. Anyway, someone could drop in a solo game and type "Anyone want to add me as a friend and drop in a group?"

Maybe, but some way to find a group ingame would be nice.
Dropping solo to find a group is kinda inefficient.
1. there are only solo people, they prolly play alone because they want to.
2. Say you find someone, play a game or two with him and you dont like him (or he doesnt like you, or he is sh*t). That means you have to drop again solo to find other players.
3. Chance of finding a player with first solo drop is not exactly great is it?
4. Using the forum would be even worse, since it takes even more time to actually get together. Also only a fraction of the player base actually uses the forum.
I get your point, and I agree, it is possible to find players to group up. But that does not mean that the (a) system shouldn't be improved (introduced).

I do not disagree with the idea of having some sort of group finder chat channel in the UI, I merely suggested an alternative for use in the meantime.

Another tournament that's going to turn the group queue into TAG/NARC/LRMwarrior Online? Pass.

Sorry to whine but getting sick of following the tonnage limits and getting stuck with one or no Assaults, versus 4 on the enemy team.

*sigh*

As Zito said the Halloween event was cool, so I need to wind my neck in a bit.

Whoa 140 score that is pretty steep I think. Unless that is damage.

Is it safe to say that the hamster wheel comes with the hamster?

Wait Baltor broke it down pretty well it does not sound that bad after all

its only seven assists

Not a good contest, but I forgive you because the Halloween one was outstanding.

1. Adding a group Tonnage to the launch screen Would be Nice.

2. Removing the Class limit of 3 Light 3medium 3 heavy 3 assualt if you are doing a tonnage restiction should be removed. It adds a Artifical Limitation in addition to tonnage skewwing any data you hope to have for analysis

3. Good Challenge my Clan is enjoying it.

Feedback: Stop doing group only events.

I don't want to play in groups. I like weekend challenges. Giving challenges that can't be completed by solo players sends a strong "our way or the highway" vibe.

Suggestion: If you want to reward group play via challenges, then make all the challenges doable by both solo and group players, but just provide bonuses to completion rates for whichever queue you want to favor that weekend.

This has probably been asked, but:

How come we're being scored individually on a team event? Shouldn't we be rewarded if our TEAM succeeds?

This is a team event, right? Just double checking.

So we are back to crappy challanges that exclude majority of userbase from the start ?

If you read the challenge you would know they are using it to figure out the weight limit for CW no SOlo IN CW so Mmeh who cares about solo pugs

now all we need is that the group windows show the total tonnage of the group

got 10 points in 19 matches, seems good

I may be wrong about this but if I and my brother want to group and play a 2v2 that's 2 players VS 2 players can we now? Or are we still grouped as 2 players in a big 12v12 furball match?

If we cannot just drop 2 VS 2-3 vs 3 - up to 12 Vs 12 with friends of same size groups what is the point of group play?

I like that you didn't include a tonnage counter, so I have to sit here and calculate with my dusty college calculator.
Real awesome.

I've joined with some randoms for this, and while I'm having fun, 60 qualifying matches? Thats a bit steep, don't you think? Especially with all the wait time typically involved with group drops and the need to communicate on what everybody is going to take to keep under the tonnage limit. I think I'll just get the few remaining matches I need for the MWO Mug and stop.

It's a fair point to raise. Unfortunately, we have sometimes seen in group queue events that scoring on team participation over individual contributions tends to result in more players engaging in farming activities. While this does grant a player the ability to more easily collect the reward; it also discourages other players and makes things unfair by forcing them to sometimes play with fewer active team-mates to support them.

It's doing the very opposite, since the farming is easier, but the actual winning is not.

No, the last event did not used a match score of 30. It used a different formula as well, which is written down every time on the event or tournament page.

OLD:
Score Formula

Score formula: (kills) + (kill_assists × 2) + (spot_assist × 2) + ((damage - friendlyfire_damage) ÷ 15) + (cbills_earned ÷ 10000) + (xp_earned ÷ 100)

This is not how the after round match score is calculated. ;)

They may change the wording but the meaning is clear when you read the rules to qualify. :)

Every "Match Score" I had on the after action report directly coincided with what showed up on the tournament page during the Halloween event.

If they aren't using the match score on the after action report to indicate the scoring in this event they need to change the wording. Simple as. No amount of condescending speech or smileys will make me change my opinion on that.
