So I've hated group ques for a long time. For small groups of friends, they couldn't be much worse. When I saw the event and tonnage limits hating on 12 mans, I was really happy.... Until I did the math.
It goes up by 20 per person, which is great. The bigger the group, it makes it harder for them to take 3 dwf and 3 tbr, that kidn of junk... But then all of a sudden it starts going up faster. Going from 10 to 12 man they get 120 more tons. It should be like 40. After doing the math a 12 man can have only 25 tons under the max tonnage possible with 4x3... This isnt really doing much at all. This isnt much of a tonnage limit

It averages out eventually so that everyone can take 60 tons of mech.
In your CW 4 mech drop, if you use up all 240 tons, your average mech weight would be 60 tons.
Working as intended?
Smaller groups are less restrictive, because 2 Dire wolves speaking to eachother over voip and organizing a strategy is less effective than 12 Quickdraws all communicating with each other.

If you're in a group smaller than 4 you have more tonnage per person.
200/2 = 100 per person
220/3 = ~76 per person
240/4 = 60 per person
You have an advantage.
Also, I much prefer this tonnage limit to the 3x3x3x3 nonsense.

20t + 35t = 55t/2 = 27.5t light avg
40t + 55t = 95t/2 = 47.5t medium avg
60t + 75t = 135t/2 = 67.5t heavy avg
80t + 00t = 180t/2 = 90t assault avg
27.5t + 47.5t + 67.5t + 90t = 232.5t/4 = 58.125t
60 tons per player is almost the exact midpoint for tonnage. If you go much lower you risk not being able to field 3 mechs of each weight class.

All seems to make good sense to me. I'm just curious if MM will ever put together a team of all 200 ton pairs so it ends up with 12 DWs and Atlases on one side. Could be an interesting match. SLOW but interesting.

I've already seen 5 mediums on one side in a match multiple times. I think there's some MM magic behind the scenes going on.
