The LL/Energy Buffs on the Pretty Baby can basically make Large Lasers Heat Neutral, and they fire fast.

Other one I have is the 9M, but haven't tried it out yet post quirk.

I need more drops post-quirks, but early results certainly seem promising.

Maybe its just your higher ROF that is causing more heat ^_^

That is probably the truth, but good luck convincing the OP.

The awesome is bad because its a giant wall of metal that twists too slow. Unless they make it twist as fast as a medium can it will never be "good" compared to other mechs. The PPCs don't help because when the lights show up they will swarm you at a range of less than 90 meters. So have fun trying to fight them off with that single medium laser and your slow twist speed.

The Awesome has always been pretty bad. its a glass cannon. 3 PPCs, deadly, just too bad its mounted to a walking wall

I think its very true - taking out my 8V or whatever it is and trying to do good constant dps with the PPC is great and all, but in a sustained fight the higher cooldown can really screw you over. Yes heat is lower - BUT you are firing faster, so must take that into account.

Travel with your teammates then. I have out lived plenty of Lights who were so intent on focusing my rear armor, they died to my teammates' fire.

Actually I'm usually the light that assists the fat mechs like the Awesome by keeping the missile rain off and keeping the other lights away.

I was worried about boating PPC's on the Awesome again, but that was in jest cause the mech is so much more powerful than it used to be. The OP needs to practise his heat management.

I'm running 5 PPC's on the 8Q and the only time I'm shutting down is aww never cause I run coolant flush, hehe, comboed with the nuts cooling and heat gen buff, the Awesome is to be respected again.

The only thing the Awesome still lacks is a removal of the stupid engine cap. The 8 series are okay, but still pretty "meh" as far as competitiveness goes.

The 8Q is still the PPC master Awesome
-PPCs generate 6.25 heat
-PPC range is 742.5m
-PPC velocity is now 1187.5m/s

The 8R is a LRM spam monster now
-LRM15 cycles every 2.66s now
-LRM15 heat down to 4.25 heat
-LRM 15 range up to 1375m

The 9M is now the ERPPC master Awesome
-ERPPC heat now at 9.375
-ERPPC range up to 1113.75m
-ERPPC velocity up to 1312.5m/s

Here are 2 9Ms that make the most of their quirks:
AWS-9M
-takes advantage of the ERPPCs only generating 9.375 heat each, so that 20 damage is moving at 1312m/s all the way out to 1113.75m for only 18.75 heat (compared to the old 30 heat)
-the four medium lasers beam duration is also now only .765 seconds long and firing every 2.65 seconds

AWS-9M
-these two focus on the ERPPCs, one swapping the 320XL for a 320Std for longevity's sake
-the second keeps the XL, but massively up rates it to a 365XL for 81kph and 22 DHS, that way it can use some speed to make the most of it's ERs

Well, I loved my PB before.. I do miss having the LPL on the right hand but.. it let me fit on a BAP with the extra tonnage saved. Giddy up!

Whether you think these quirks are OP or balanced, there is no possible way you can argue that they made the mechs worse.

It's worse than it was before this last patch. Before this last patch the Awesome was handling it's Energy weapons correctly. They caused a high heat spike, too high if you alpha'd incurring a Heat Scale penalty, but then they shed the heat relatively quickly because they had Quirks to absorb more heat per heatsink and shed it faster. So if you added 20 DHS and sacrificed the high alpha-strike of boating, you could pause to let your heat drop and fire again. This helped the Awesome compete with Ballistics and allowed endless combinations of weapons.

Secondly the Center Torso was much tougher due to +Armor and not quite so much +Structure. This addressed the Awesome's major weakness of being as fat as the broadside of a barn with a CT that can not be shielded.

Then PGI goes and gives all the other mechs Quirks about like the Awesome's got and the mech is reduced to what it was before any Quirks existed. Too fat, too hot, very slow to cooldown from using the only weapons it gets, which are Energy. The missile Awesomes are a bit better off if they boat LRMs, but who wants LRM boats? You want direct-fire with a few LRMs as back-up, or it gets boring.

Basically the Awesome's Quirks in a Lore driven way would be, All Energy runs better cooler, Heat Sinks are more efficient. To fix the 3D Model weakness of being the ultra-wide mech, extra CT armor, and more structure. Done. Of course I do like the 1100 meter ERPPC's and the 729 meter PPCs, but it doesn't fix what's wrong with the Awesome.

No, it's not. The Awesome has stupid amounts of DPS, because it's..well, a PPC machinegun. It can chainfire them for quite a while, from a good distance, and it has good velocity compared to before.

Yes, it can chain fire them, but people want the most PPFLD in as little time as possible, for as long as possible. Its why the Banshee, Dire Wolf and Jager for example are good....each of them can punch of immense PPFLD due to hardpoints and all that.....While mechs like the Orion are not considered good....they dont get the hardpoints to lolpha you in the face in 2s flat..
