It seems that everybody in the group queue has some kind of grasp on what to do in this game, so games are often not so bad as the solo queue games.
Meanwhile, in solo queue everybody is pretty much going every which direction and getting mauled by the murderball. I'll never get the appeal to solo queue and I am almost always reminded why I've largely abandoned it. I'm getting kind of tired of being placed with new / unskilled players because of my higher ELO, and forced to face off against teams that are more significantly stacked against me.

Eh... I have tons of great matches in both queues, and also crappy ones in both.
There are lots of skilled players in the solo queue. Just talk to the team briefly if you want to do something, most are reasonable folks.
Also I generally take with a grain of salt anything said by someone who proclaims their "high ELO"

That dont even make sense. And if you are always on the losing side finding yourself apart from your team i would see why you prefer to get carried in group queue.

Actually I was wondering how you get a "murderball" if everyone is going in different directions? Its Oxymoronic.

So, your point is "stacked against you" means the other team has no derp?
Don't solo queue.
That's all I do - I play much better when I don't feel constrained to worry about "teammates" whose only purpose in the group queue is to measure epeen.

I played in my first group matches in almost a year. and all I can say is dropping in group queue only guarantees that your teammates know what they are doing, while in the solo queue, you have to use observation to determine who knows their business, and who is in you Elo bracket due to LRMs or clan mech (which are still very useful tools if you know how to use them).

Solo has very little chance to organize themselves with only a keyboard. You just wait till you get lucky and drop with experienced players then you can get a good fight. One of the things about solo is you get surprised a lot. Its not the same routine and you have room to be a little experimental in tactics an loadout.
