Champion-'mechs do not give a CBill-bonus. They give a 30% XP-bonus.
Hero-'mechs give a CBill-bonus.

Oops. Last time I buy a Champion mech then. If I play the mech at all they are all sitting with 100,000 to 300,000 XP banked and nothing to use it on.

Yeah, champions are pretty much worthless unless you really want to save up on GXp and have none for some reason. Other than getting them as part of a package, their value is utter garbage, when compared to a Hero.

"champion" mech is a wide field though.
all mechs with a (c) in its name give an XP Boost.
All other mechs in your mechlab that are fielded as "champion" do not give an XP boost, but an C-Bills boost.
Examples are the Phoneix mechs (p), the AS7-S, CN9-AH, preordered orime variants of the clan mechs, etc...
all champions that give a CBill boost.
weird? yep!
Just remember: (c) stands for NO CBills.
