Now that there's a new BattleTech outlet, how long do you guys think we have before good ol Chip Burcham (or one of his millions of pseudonyms) shows up and starts devising off the wall rules for this new MechWarrior while proclaiming his love for Katrina Steiner and advocating perpetual limitless energy reactors?

He's pretty much been a staple of all BattleTech forums, until he gets banned. Its been about 15 years he's been around - He comes in waves with about six or seven alt-names and tries to make discussions about how BattleTech needs rules for stuff like psychic viewing, or how his 300 ton tank with 30 small lasers is the epitome of combat effectiveness. He's pretty much the ultimate BattleTech troll, except for the fact that he's 100% serious.

Yeah, don't invite that in here, hehe. If an individual like that does come, feel free to make me aware of his presence, his name, and any topics he might start or participate in, I'll evaluate and ignore as necessary.

Google Chip Burcham - his legendary trolling goes beyond BattleTech forums - you'll find him on libertarian, BBQ, and RVing websites spouting pretty much the same ideas.

I found a Facebook page by that name... he has one friend ^_^

I get what you mean about the perpetual motion machine nonsense. It's not just nonsense about Andrea Rossi, or the usual drivel, this guy actually thinks he has his own concept, and not one with much thought put into it, I might add.

Well, I think I will just be on the lookout for this dweeb and, hopefully, he won't actually find his way here.

You can hope, but truthfully HeroChip is as much a part of the Battletech subculture as PPCs and Autocannons. He goes all the way back to the days when "Battletech Online" meant looking up threads on rec.games.mecha

He shows up from time to time on most of the boards, but most of us older posters can spot him due to the fact that he hasn't changed a topic in almost two decades. He's actually decent enough as long as you don't let him get started on one of his topics.

Dude, you just inspired me to look at RGM for the first time in literally 11 years, and I'm cracking up here reliving the memories.

Unfortunately, Paladin1 is almost certainly correct. It sounds like he's pretty ubiquitous, and there's NO WAY he's going to stay away from the forums for the first Mechwarrior game announced in years.
