I can't understand why you guys keep doing this for your weekend events. It turns the entire weekend into non-stop LRMaggeddon because spot and NARC assists are the best way to get points. You can lose the game 12-0 and still get enough points for a "good" round just by getting spot assists. That's really dumb.

EDIT:

I mean why not this:

(Kills × 20) + (Kill Assist × 20) + (Spot Assist × 2) + (TAG/Narc Assist × 4) + ((Damage - TeamDamage) ÷ 15) + (Win × 20)

Simple spot assists are still worth getting since points are points. TAG/Narc is worth twice as much as a spot, since they require a greater investment. Winning should get points, because winning is the actual purpose of the game.

This is the score formula for the weekend event:

(Kills × 10) + (Spot Assist × 20) + (Kill Assist × 20) + (TAGNarc Assist × 20) + ((Damage - TeamDamage) ÷ 15)

You need 140 points to get a round that counts towards getting a cockpit doodad. Since each Spot and TAG/Narc assist counts for 20 points, your best bet at getting the points consistently is to run groups with a bunch of LRM boats and spotters with TAGs and NARCs.

Of course, what the 1337 players of the group tourney did not realize is the fact that a single AMS can destroy a NARC missile as long as it travels for more than 140 meters. Now if the whole team had equipped an AMS each, they would have been NARC proof.

Too bad people often scorn AMS for being useless--now they are paying for it.

I agree they should stop giving points for TAG/Narc but not because of the amount of LRMs but rather because this formula forces people to use a certain weapon and certain playstyle. Why then "LBX assist" isn't there? Or "Small Laser" assist? Plus it is pretty stupid when lights run to spot and switch targets as soon as they get the points for it instead of keeping those locks until target actually dies.

It's hilarious that LRMs are the boogeyman to some people.

I also think it's hilarious how its the exact same whining no matter what the tournament is.

If they made a tournament where all you had to do was play three matches, win/lose no score/high score, people would still come to the forums whining how playing matches makes LRMs get over used.

Bonus whine: "This tournament brings out/encourages the worst players/play styles!"

For the record, I'm totally fine with rewarding spotting and NARC assists, but 20 points is waaaaaaaaay too goddamn much.

I mean why not this:

(Kills × 20) + (Kill Assist × 20) + (Spot Assist × 2) + (TAG/Narc Assist × 4) + ((Damage - TeamDamage) ÷ 15) + (Win × 20)
