Aside from the lasers which sound like they came straight out of your stereotypical 60s sci-fi flick (AKA a joke), it's readily apparent that the sound effects in this game need some major work, and perhaps someone that knows what they're doing...
Sound can be just as influential as graphics in immersing a player into the game and instilling memories, and it's also important that each weapon is distinct.. realistic/believable to some degree.. and carries a weight to it that is appropriate.
In the most recent video release () the Gauss Rifle sound effect was shown... it may have been shown in other videos before, I don't know. You can barely realize it was fired... I had to make sure by looking at the cooldown indicator on the HUD (around the 53 second marker in the video).
Really it sounds like the Atlas just farted, not like it just fired one of the most powerful weapon in its arsenal (and one of the most powerful weapons in the game). This is absolutely retarded, especially since we already KNOW what a magnetically accelerated projectile sounds like, kudos to the US Navy:
To PGI, whoever is the sound designer, fire him and hire me instead, or simply get some vision behind the effects. Thank you & good night.

Nothing like screaming out " RESPECT ME YOU IDIOTS!"

The sound was loud enough to rustle your jimmies
So far I've been satisfied by what I've heard.

Lol
Everyone should take this as an example of how not to critique and how not to get a job or be taken seriously. Robots are serious business.

Youtube videos don't do ingame sounds justice... I'll have to wait till I can play the game with my studio headphones plugged directly into my HD soundcard to know whether they are weak or not...

I find what I've heard pretty satisfying, seeing you're in a suit and within a cockpit meant to dampen the noise coming from weapons. If you didn't have that, you'd go deaf in an instant and most likely insane.

As far as laser sounds.. anyone here actually fire an argon laser? Now scale it up to the size of even a small laser now tell me what that sounds like.. hmm odd no one has a laser that large? WEIRD your argument for it sounding cheesy or weird in a computer game based on a fictional universe is odd and irrational!
