So, I'm a new player and I have few questions.
1) Is there a mechlab where I can test out building a mech without buying the chassis first, so I can have an idea of what I can actually accomplish without blowing my money accidentally?
2) I have a Steel Series WoW gaming mouse. I'd love to be able to assign the extra buttons to weapon groups etc... Anyone have experience with this?

1) http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab
You will not be able to test it before you buy it ingame, but you will see, what can be done.
After you bought it (in the game, as there is no way to buy directly from Smurfy, as that is a fan site), you can test it on the training grounds.
2) There should be no problem at all with multi-button mice. If you do come across one, you can seek help in the hardware forums.

1) Smurfy here: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de is awesome.
2) Sure, you can do that in game settings and/or your mouse's software.
Sorry for brevity, on phone. Welcome to MWO

Even if it isn't gone, nothing stacks with the cadet bonus anymore since it's paid out through the achievement system now. Since it's not part of end-of-match rewards, premium time and Hero mech bonuses do NOT affect the cadet bonus anymore.
