8 small pulse firestarter is a friggin joke.

IS lights where already completely OP compared to clans lights and now this, game is become unplayable for clans.

NERF after NERF after NERF and now more IS buffs,

As i've said before IS won't ever have to worry about terra being taken overr cause unless you use a hack like some people i'm certain do, PGI will save the IS by examples of these kinds riduclise quirks while nerfing the clans.

The massive increase in suddenly exceedingly well doing FS-9's is indeed somehow worrying. They porbably get tweaked.

I guess the current challange is made to recheck the the impact the quirks have compared to the previous challange.

Unfortunately I wish we would have a chassis challange again so we as players without all the background data could compare this as well.

I think it's less that Firestarter's are "OP" and more that Lights in general have been so under-represented for so long that it has just become odd to see one as dangerous.

Hmm just built one in Smurfy that runs over 100 kph with 8 med pulse...so firepower 48. Would that work in a game? Only 17% cooling though.

Entirely too slow. It would die a horrible death...repeatedly.

So a variant other than the Ember is actually played now, viable and dangerous and your crying? Before the quirkening I never even saw another Firestarter other than the Ember except when someone was trying to master the Ember.

Seems like the quirkening has done its job. There are ton more variants running around.

No. You will melt.

Build the A with 8 small pulse or the H with 6 ML. Those are the two best now.

Funny thing is. People are seeing other people's builds: "Hey this is a very good build" and are beginning to use it.

Sheeps also follow each other. Bet in no time we see alot of FS9 and then it will get nerfed into oblivion again because people are overusing it.

Or like the Direwolf PPC plus GAUSS.. :rolleyes: Kinda sad really. Some human nature is always to get the best of the best.

But i dont think clanners have to worry. I mean a Stormcrow can tank more then a Atlas.

Incorrect, IMHO. Lights are already under represented and under powered compared to heavies and assaults.

Why is it that so many people seem repulsed by the idea of competitive lights?

Do you have any idea how close you have to get for IS small pulse lasers effective range, and how much risk that puts you in as a light mech?

Because half of what makes a "competitive light" seems to revolve around BS hit detection and the ability to tank an entire team.

You can't ignore them, because they'll chew through your back in no time.
You can't kill them, because hit detection (especially with lasers) is horrendous.
Any time you spend trying to fight them, is time the rest of their team has clear shots at you.

Jenners are fast and nimble, but there's one big difference. If I hit a Jenner in the face, it's either going to die, or it's going to hurt enough that it will try and escape from the area. I hit a Firestarter in the face with the same build, I "might" be lucky if I get a single component to orange.

It isn't just Firestarters though. Spiders, Commandos, and even the Ice Ferret have all shown to have very poor hit detection and incredibly high tanking abilities.

Well actually i think lights and their expensive XL engines are a reason why people hardly use them, experimenting with XL engines is quite expensive. Thats Why i neve try them I better spend my money on soemthing I know what I get before.

And I really want to slap anyone who says something about clans and then reffers to a TBR, SCR or DWF, because every damn time this sounds like clans only consist of these 3 mechs. (But well we all know why this is)

Sure, tell that to the poor fellow that my newly quirked 3xPPC AWS-8Q legged mid-flight before being devoured by my team mates like a pack of hungry hyenas. :lol:
