That is a good guess but I can get closer. Here you go
Educated guess>
More than 1
Less than a 99
See im closer as I am positive there will not be 100 maps at launch As I know of no F2P that started with near that much.

Well we have seen lots of pics of the forest-lake map, might be more then 1 actually.
Then during E3 we saw the video someone made of someone playing and it was on a snow map so I can say there will be at least 2.

There would types of terrain: snow, jungle, urban, desert, forest and maybe coastal right? Otherwise the game really going to seem a bit stupid. We're fighting on multiple planets. Any less than 20 maps and we'll know them all within a week.
I think each type of terrain will have 10-20 variations. Consider snow for example.
1. One with a coast, most planets will have water I bet
2. a forest covered one
3. one with a lot of hills
4. one with a lake, maybe some buildings
5. an urban or semi urban one
So that is 5 for snow. Then consider 5 variations of each one of those or even 20 variations for 20 different cold planets. Only then will they ever make it feel like we're fighting on many planets and on different locations on each planet. 5 x 20 = 100 for snow.

When you say map do you mean the type of terrain/planet conditions or do you actually mean, 6 battlefields?
Would that not be seriously laim, i know I would not be impressed?
Even PS2 games like BF2 had about 12 maps. I would expect about 20 to get started with but I won't be surprised if they have had someone making maps for weeks.

I mean actual, full maps. Remember, this is an online game so they can constantly add to it. WoT, which is similar in some respects, started with less than 10 maps but has been adding them at a rate of about 2 every 2-3 months. I expect similar results here.
However, the lead designer talked about having varying effects in a recent interview. What I am hoping for, based on that, is a situation where there may only be a few maps (3-6 now, 12-24 within a year maybe) but each time you play it is a little different. Day vs night (maybe dusk and dawn too), cloudy vs clear, rainy vs snowy vs clear, fog, etc could all come into play.
