So i just bought a Lenovo Y50. It has a gtx 860 and an i7 of some sort in it. about 2 days old now.Day one i deleted the bloatware, installed MWO, fired it up and set everything to max. was getting 60 fps or better except bigger fights where it would drop to 50ish.

Day two i fire it up and it gives me about 24 fps in game and 12-15 in battles.

set everything to low and minimum and still only 18-22 fps in combat.

Someone suggested i run the patch repair tool. it seemed to work for a couple games, then i shut game down went home and started it up again. right back to 24 fps on low.

Any idea what's going on and how i fix it?

Make sure to disable power-saving everything and enable maximum performance everywhere. First thing that comes to mind.

And get a cooling pad. Usually laptop stock cooling isn't the greatest. The colder your chips, the better your performance...unless you play outdoors in an eskimo village.

Thanks for the replies and help dudes. I set everything to max and still no different. After doing some reading and research, it seems the Y50 automatically drops off the 860 and goes on the intergrated chip anytime it's not plugged in regardless of settings.
The solution is apparently to edit the registry to make the gtx 860 my primary and ignore the intergrated chip. According to forums on the subject that i could find anyways

Most of the time yes,but i like moving around the living room sometimes. My two favorite chairs are on opposite sides of the living room and the power cable is short :P

at any rate, i appreciate the suggestions. gave me a starting point for figuring out the issue. thanks!

Ah, yes, I completely forgot about the Lenovo software suite. It will do whatever it wants regardless of the Windows power settings. My T430S stays docked. Was thinking about getting a Y50, good to know that the horsepower is there when you want it as long as it's plugged in.
