I was just reading a thread about TKing and came across a locked thread about Goons TKing alot.

I thought Eve Online was the only game that had to deal with those douchebags. Are Goons really in MWO also?

The answer is classified, but if you register at SA.com and send me 500M ISK, I might be able to give you the inside scoop.

You might want to take a look at the House Liao board and plan your CW faction choice accordingly. :D

They play, at least some of them do, but I haven't heard of them doing anything particularly bad lately.

They use to be here, and were a pain. Then they left. I have seen claiming to be "goons" but their tactics and skill are outdated with little effect now. So I am guessing "if" they are here TKing it is the only means of trying to troll that works for them now.

They've mostly left the game or kept quiet. That's a good thing. Goons were a big reason late 2012 and early 2013 was a pain.

Goons are the reason Knockdowns were removed from MWO during closed beta. Because they stunlocked Paul I think it was.

They gravitated to MWO back while it was still in beta. some are still here, other's moved on. just watch for House Liao players, and people who SQUAWK. and you'll know what you're up against.

They were and are in MWO. They are the WoT unit for house Liao. They aren't particularly "Good" from what i've seen. I've gone up against them in their 12 man with mix-matched small groups and hadn't had too much trouble winning. They tend to play wreckless.

Bit of a history rewrite there, dude, remember that although PGI are doing a good job these days they weren't back then and that was not the goon's fault.

Haven't actually seen anyone squawk in a while, but as the previous posts show, some goons are clearly still here. Might just be my elo though, I haven't got a clue if any of them are in my elo range, whatever range that may be.

I don't see it like that. I remember goon-squads in their cookie cutter Raven 3Ls demolishing everyone and spamming Squawk in the chat. PGI didn't make them do that. Yeah, PGI could have avoided making the RVN-3L overpowered, but I didn't use it back then. They could have chosen not to use it too.

Goons have a special forum and game culture, but they are actually a pretty fun bunch to play with. I've played dominions 4 with the goons and it's always action packed and fun with lots of edgy over the top jokes and playstyles.

And players breaking the game using it's mechanics like in the Paul stunlock and Raven 3L example is a good thing, that's how you bring attention to exploits. I encourage everyone to do it as much as possible.

Goons make things happen. If a game gives them the tools, they will use those tools - generally in ways which demonstrate either how awesome those tools are, or how terrible.

Usually terrible.

Correction: always terrible; they're goons.

You are correct in that PGI could have balanced Ravens and made collision work properly and balanced jump snipers but they didn't and that's on them, not the players.

You play the game that's there, not the game you wish was there.

(I really like MWO these days but lets not pretend 2012 would have been a wonderland without the Goons- those were the days of bugs and lies).

I was an active pvper of an anti-pirate corp in Eve Online. My impression was that Goonswarm was just a bunch of lowlife scumbags. The punishment (account suspension) of 'The Mittani' confirmed my belief further.

I just hope Goonswarm never returns to this game.
