Holy christ you're getting obscure here, but if I remember correctly from the Intoduction or Chapter 1 of Decision at Thunder Rift, yes, I think Durant piloted a Phoenix Hawk.

Yeah, I just read the first book recently. Ah well I probably shouldn't worry too much about fluff in the release notes.

Are you thinking of Jason Youngblood's father who had a Phoenix Hawk LAM?

Edit: Sarna does say Durant Carlyle had a Phoenix Hawk too. Guess the PHX is daddy's favorite.

No, it was his father.

It got crushed by that Marauder.

The SHD was another mech Carlyle's Commando's had, but it wasn't his father's.

No, I never piloted a Shadow Hawk before I died. I was partial to Phoenix Hawks.

so with a stretch i think the fluff around the new shawk is ok.

I'd have to guess this is the reason for the change..makes at least a little bit more sense to 'stretch' the lore to cover 'Mechs that are in game, versus one that will probably never be in game (or, that whole sentence could have been left off).

I don't always hear the dead, but when I do, I generally think of them as trustworthy.


Thanks for the responses; only really brought this up as the release notes kinda struck a weird vibe ... though I imagine if they are ret-conning for the lack of PHX, whatever works.
