So I Came Back After A Lil Break To See The Perks...

Loaded up my old faithful and long mastered Awesome 8Q and took it in test grounds just to see how the perks effected it....I did a double take when i saw my new max ranges...

WOW. I literally sat there and cackled like an evil maniac for about 5 minutes when i saw that...and the velocity buff? THIS THING IS ACTUALLY DANGEROUS NOW.

I immediatly hopped in my old trusty battlemaster...AND MY DPM IS BACK! I actually cannot wait to drive these old powerhouses again. Well done with the quirks so far. I'm actually impressed.

Btw that screen was taken a few seconds after wailing ont he back of that centurion...notice the heat....

HHNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!! xD

Awesomes post-quirkening terrify me. I avoid them as I would avoid Dire Wolves and Stalkers.

That should have been the case before. these were know for knocking people flat with a few well placed shots. I might have to change its name from "The Paul" now. its not so nerfed anymore xD

And why stalkers? I havent looked them over as all mine are mostly missle boats...are they super evil now too? xD

I've always been wary of stalkers. Stalker missile boats are always easy to engage, but every now and then I'll see one running with a bunch of SRMs and heavy on pulse lasers and I clench a little bit.

Misery's still scare the **** out of me.

Heh yeah! I just re-bought the 8Q to test it out. Though I'm not as good in it as say my hunchback, it's still a blast to chain fire 4 ppcs repeatedly.

PPCs have a nasty problem of going through enemies right now without hurting them.

Pffft, I look at Stalkers the same way as I look at Grocery Stores. Big bags of high damage score for me.

 ER-PPC Range +12.5%
 ER-PPC Velocity +25%
 ER-PPC Heat Generation -12.5%
 Energy Weapon Heat Generation -12.5%
 Energy Weapon Range +12.5%
 Energy Weapon Cooldown +15%


810 + 10% (module) + 25% (quirk) = 1113.75 m

But in my mech I get 1094m

What's that config? I have just 3 ERPPC's in my 9M and chain firing brings me to 47% heat on that map.

Yep, post-quirks I just two weapons groups on my 8Q, my ppc cycling and my small laser. Spit so many bolts so far and so fast with modules added it just makes me laugh as I unload.

I assure you that's an 8Q. lol I dont think I even grinded the 9m past basic way back in beta.

Alpha strike is 71% heat. i think its a standard 300 with max sinks possible. I mentioned that just to show how fast it cools.

If you want to run triple ER-PPC, then you want the AWS-9M.

If you want to run triple normal PPC, then you want the original AWS-8Q.

The big thing will be the heat, although range and velocity help as well.

With the old 8Q, you just get the generic energy weapon heat reduction, but with the 9M you get that same reduction, and an equal reduction for the ER-PPC specifically (and velocity for ONLY the ER-PPC).

I own the 9M, as I find it to be more versatile, and I am glad since I don't want to be vulnerable below 90 meters. It still runs hotter than the 8Q by a long shot. A 9M with ER's will still generate 11.25 heat per shot, while the 8Q will only generate 7.5 heat per shot.

But, on the 9M you can have 3 medium lasers even after losing your side torsos, and you can still shoot somebody right in your face. Or you can load up three streak-2s and a beagle probe to fight lights more effectively. We all know how bad it can be to try and fight a light with an assault mech armed mostly with guns/PPC's.

Really wish they had just given Awesome general energy quirks so we can use what we want. Or weapon quirks were combined. 1 quirk and module for LL/LPL/ERLL, 1 quirk and module for PPC/ERPPC, etc

For whatever reason, hit registration/HSR was working perfectly for me yesterday evening. I suddenly noticed that enemies are actually cored after I hit them 3-4 times with lasers and that they retreat as soon I hit them. Well, I thought, if lasers work so well, let's try PPCs. Readied up the 8Q with 3 PPCs (only) and: OH YEAH!

In the first match with it, I saw a fresh Timber, watching a different location, slightly moving. Alpha Strike in his back - insta kill!
A Cataphract beside it, started to run away: Alpha Strike into it's back = insta kill!
I never ever had reliable of all 3 PPCs hitting a moving target, it was almost shocking.

Well, but then the enemy team got upset and hunted me down into a corner and close distance - oh, yeah, 90m min range 8)

The PPC spam you can do on a normal heat map with the 8Q is really big big fun :lol:

The thing runs so cold, I might even try a 4 PPC build and alpha with that. Screw ghost heat! :rolleyes:

But knowing my luck, hit reg will be back to it's horrible old state when I play again today. :unsure:

Nice to see you back bagheera. The quirks definitely have a lot o fpotential to finally give some incentives to under utilized mechs.

The Problem is your Formula,
A= Range
A+(A*.1)+(A*.25)= New Range

For your case A=810
810 + 81 + 202.5 = 1093.5 (Round to the Nearest whole) = 1094
