So what game modes could best implement the new dropship mode and also deal with a lot of the complaints that come from the other game modes?
People hate the lack of objectives. People complain about the tendency for every strategy to devolve into deathballing. How every game (unless it's conquest) becomes nothing more than one deathball finding the quickest route to the other deathball and then boom explodey, doing it again in 5 minutes.
Some might argue that this is the point of assault, and skirmish, to kill the other guys efficiently and get points and cbills for doing so. Others argue that this will not last, it will eventually get boring and then entropy ensues, one day no one playing this F2P arena shooter.
I see the points of both sides, and I think that more content and game modes will be the fix for this.
I see a way to promote anti-deathballing, or lance to lance play is to have maps broken up into quadrants, with lances being given different objectives to defend or attack installations or buildings or resources, which would increase the chances of a 4 man lance to encounter another single enemy lance on route. Timed objectives that evolve, with bonuses, maybe even 10 MC bonuses depending on the sequence, which add up, (but slowly). So this encourages people to go the extra mile to go for objectives over just points for a technical win by simply blowing everything up.
With the addition of AI assets, like turrets, possibly tanks, or minuature bases, and proposed consumable content, like directable uav or support fire, or even deployable AI units, this makes the multi-objective games a lot more dynamic with different levels of play. Just giving the game some more fertile ground to grow organically into whatever the playerbase and the devgroup can make happen. Lots of potential.
