My favorite build so far is 2x SRM4 & 3x SPLS & 1.5 tons of ammo. I tried just standard SLAS & the extra ton of ammo, but it just didn't have the punch for me. I have to be a bit more selective about what I throw the SRM's, but that, in turn, helps me pick the right targets to attack.

I found the C comes near perfect right out of the box. The only thing I did to the C to make it suit me was take off half a ton of AMS ammo and add armor.
I found that if you're running ecm you rarely don't even need the ams in the first place, more room for armor too if i just remove it overall and or another laser / heatsink, the c variant loadout is by far my favorite now now that I have played with it this mech more. The ERLL really makes you a pesky yet still dangerous light because it can pretty much hit from anywhere in any map almost if theres enough range. I kept an ERML as extra laser burntime so I can fire still if I get a bit too hot to keep firing the ERLL.
I can safely say though if you know how to keep moving and jump boosting everywhere, you can easily overwhelm most mechs, save for lights of course with just an ERLL. I successfully took down a few mechs solo 1v1 with just an ERLL and ERML by using the surrounding terrain to get a higher advantage over them and constantly moving. Only issue is if you're getting shot at by other lights, then you usually run into issues.
Some of my best games with the lynx have used only that weapon loadout. A few examples I took screenshots have scores of
1: 134 match score, 3 kills, 8 assists, 563 damage
2: 88 match score, 2 kills, 6 assists, 538 damage
3: 116 match score, 5 kills, 6 assists, 482 damage
Numbers speak for themselves that if you play the mech right you can be at the top of your team easily.

I haven't had much luck with this chassis. All the weapon hard points in the relatively big arms which are lightly armoured seems a major drawback to me. Nearly every game I end up with no weapons and getting eaten for breakfast by Jenners and Firestarters!

Sorry guys, but i dont agree with any of you!
This mech is fun to play, but it is broken! It feels like, compared to the spider and commando, it takes double damage! It looses a torso, or anything so easelly, and it is slow...
Im trying to master these mechs, but its so damn hard, even harder than a locust. Its the most squashy mech on the game.
As a veteran pilot, i feel that this mech is a fail mech.
But it is fun none the less.
So, in my humble opinion, it needs his hit boxes reduced, or something to strenght his hit boxes.

But, as the OP title suggests, it's the pilot that makes the mech cool.

Agreed
with such a small amount of space for gear the AMS has to go. and anyway if you are playing it right there should always be a nice fat direwolf or atlas to stand behind that will kindly block all those missiles for you.

If that's how you avoid missiles, you ain't playing it right. At least not for your team.

On a 25 ton mech, the 4.5 tons of hardwired equipment have to go...
