I am totally for it. On those rare occasions where I manage to twist and move enough they shoot me down to my mech britches. It's pretty awesome. It'd be nice to see more of that. To feel like they have to tear you apart to bring you down.
That's my opinion. Please discuss. (Also if this has been posted else where on the forums. Apologies in advance.)

Equipement needs more HP - damaged Equipment a reduced functionality like i.e. reduced range, longer reload/cooldown, more heat...

I, too am for it. I feel TTK is a little low at the moment, but mostly for lights and mediums. To be honest, i'd like critical hits to play more of a role in battle, and having more internal structure would create more opportunity for crit hunting to become a thing.

Increased IS makes me worry how sturdy assaults will become with more "free" hp xD
Imagine a 1:1 IS to armor ratio, now imagine an atlas or direwolf.

Though, if internals were buffed-equip HP buffed, MG/FLAMER/LBX could get a better crit dynamic.
It doesnt have to be a blanket increase for each mech either.
Some mechs could be better tanks by having certain components buffed/etc.
Im not really feeling this one though...

I think a compromise might be to have standard internal structure have more HP to make it semi-competitive against Endo Steel, while Endo would retain its current default internal HP. A similar thing might be able to be done for Ferro as well.
The only truly major unintended consequence (that I can think of) of this might be an indirect buff to the Dire Whale, however...maybe just give the Whale negative internal HP quirks that bring it back down to current levels?

Yep - that just means that it doesn't need to be increased linearly up the weight classes. Less of an increase at the top, higher at the bottom.

This. On my Atlas, the autocannon is lost pretty much as soon as the ST is breached, even if it's an AC20. Ditto for the CN9-D (which is why I laughed that the shield arm got the useful-but-wasted armor quirk, but the weapon arm got the useless internals quirk). It is rare indeed that a part that carries multiple weapons is breached, and only some of those weapons get taken out.

yes thats battle of attrition, that is how mechwarrior should be, today rarely a weapon gets critted out without also losing the whole section. a heavy mech that has a section filled with some 1 slot weapons and like 3 heatsinks should at least lose one half of that equipment before the section is destroyed. Also such a system would give case a better place, because currentlyits hardly used sine ammo explosions happen rather rarely.
Raise the internals, half the armor is what I said some month ago.

they could give Standard structure some kind of "buff" by reducing the the critchance by 10% or such. so that there is some mor difference in ES vs FF. especially for clanners who cna not change to FF this would mean some kind of minor buff. But with the current way and the low internal this will hardly help at all.
