Pirate's Bane - awesome mech. For $7.50 US it comes perfectly equipped and ready for fun. Hours and hours of fun. Only mech I've every purchased and not altered the configuration one bit (except shifting some armor around). Just an amazing, fun time for the money.

Boy, they got it right on this one. Now if only they would take the Mist Linx back and put a little more thought into it. I'd be happy to wait until they got it right.....

I am so glad to see all those PBs running around. My K/D has greatly improved. Thanks PB mechwarriors!

I have to agree. A real fun 'mech to pilot.

I even enjoy it's major limitation and the gameplay challenge it presents. Having something like a 30° each way limit on torso elevation makes you really think about your positioning.

I like piloting mechs that make me think.

While I agree that any locust is fun (they are my favorite, after all), the PB torso limitations irk me a bit. You can't shoot down UAVs. You can't hit an atlas torso when snuggled up behind it. You can't engage anything on terra therma unless you are just about on level with it. For a mech that needs to be moving fast most of the time to survive, this makes it absolutely abysmal on any map with significant elevation changes. Remember, it's mostly short range weapons, so that torso pitch and lack of arm mounted weapons really hurts it. I don't think locusts need any more additional "challenges."

The 1E outperforms the PB in every way possible. The ECM is a non-issue because it's countered anytime you are within weapons range. It doesn't help at distance because if you are exposing yourself at distance in a locust, nothing is going to help you.

I suggest they move the torso energy hardpoints to the arms, or give it an extra 10 degrees up/down torso pitch, at least.

Its so fun! £4.50 for it in UK and it runs like a demon. Ive set it up as ERLL for long range poking - as one small tickle from the enemy and your flat on your face...!

I am also going to increase rear amour, most of my deaths is me running way and 'BAM' they got me.

1E is the only locust I kept after mastering them. But honestly there are two things that keep me from playing it (and I play commando a lot so I should like locusts)
That horible cockpit designed to stop you from seeing outside.
And the quirks. Small Laser quirks?? ....seriously? I literally do not know what to de with the mech now, I'm still playing it in my old superalpha overheating 6xmLas config but it seams a waste.

It's pretty much the perfect locust.

Though i can't dogfight with it as well as I am used to with the torso mounted lasers it still is pretty impressive for having both firepower and the mguns to use while cooling down.

Right now I can't beat XL170 engine, x4 mediums, ECM, x2 mguns (x1 ton of ammo)

However there are times when that ECM can get me into trouble. The ECM flag will often alert people to my otherwise hidden presence. But it's more than worthwhile not to get bombarded by LRM's before the fight has even started.

I was going to pick one up, but then I spectated one in action. The muzzle flashes from the MGs make it impossible to see. Unfortunately for me, that alone has made me decline purchasing one.

It must be good, it already appropriated the acronym for the Pretty Baby.

I like the handeling of the Locust unfortunately I cannot abide its cockpit, it seems like 30% of what should be glass is window frame on the regualr versions, on the (p) it is more like 50%.

So my issues with the mech are minor.

1. With the hardpoints it has + the tonnage I can't think of a better loadout for it if I still want to carry ECM. Stock it is just what it is. If I want ECM I don't have enough tonnage for different weapons. With it's quirks I don't want to change the weapons. I don't want to drop the engine size and lose speed so I can't see a way to "improve" the build. (speed is life in a mech this fragile)

2. All torso mounted weapons really limits being able to aim.

3. MGs are BLINDING when in combat. I've started using them in short bursts to make sure my more damaging lasers stay on target.

I still find it increasingly ironic and kind of funny that the Locust can outperform anything but the Commando... but it's also increasingly awesome. So many matches are filled with Locusts now! :D

Welcome to Hero mechs. 90% of them have mild nerfs compared to non-hero mechs like that.
