Then Quirks came along and I pulled my Thunderbolt 5SS out of mothballs. Dear lord! 7 medium wublasers? Bangarang!
Sadly, I never remember to take screenshots, but I've never had so many 3-5 kill games. K/D ratio in it hopped up over 2 immediately and stayed there, and this is a mech with no ECM, no AMS, no Radar Dep, and still the Barn Door size and shaped body. It's just so...lasery.
Anyway, my funnest match last night was actually a loss. It was on mining collective, gametype Conquest. I start the battle slightly late, not on purpose, I had to deal with burning dinner. My team is behind on cap and slowly falling behind on kills, though it's not too bad yet (0-1 or 0-2 I think).
Myst Linx charges me, I kill it with the dubsteb laser light show. But hey, it's just a Myst Lynx.
Trudge deeper into the map, Timber Wolf. Now that's a legit probl...kill it.
Directly behind him, a Catapult. Take a couple salvos of missiles to the face but then I'm too close, and with a little help from a teammate, the bass drop takes him out. I cap the nearest base.
At this point I have the (dumb) idea to flank the remaining enemy, which with no jump jets and my middling speed takes too long. We're well behind on Cap and there's only three of us..oh crap, 2 of us left, against 4 baddies in bigger mechs that are in better shape. The final two of us come up and around the back end of the map, confront a Hunchback. I kill him.
My last teammate goes to cap the nearest base, but I'm looking at the timing and make the judgment that the two of us just can't cap fast enough to win on cap at this point. A dead teammate warns me the enemy is pretty undamaged (I've lost an arm and my center torso armor).
I see a base being capped, run towards it. Pull up a side ramp, and a frigging Dire Wolf passes right by me going down the ramp on the other side. Doesn't see me! I decide to hold up just a second so his back is more square towards me as he completes his turn down the other ramp...and ANOTHER DIRE WOLF trundles past. Both are light yellow with no major armor breaches I can see. The second one doesn't see me either! I line up my shot. I pray to the gods of crits that I can somehow one shot the rear DW, but no luck, and he immediately turns around. I frantically pour medium pulses into his CT while frantically torso twisting, and after a few salvos he drops!
His lead knows I'm there now, but has been a little slow getting turned around. I'm at red critical damage in the CT now, I know i'm about to die, I'm twisting, I'm ducking behind some girders and fuel tanks and ****, I'm pumping all the dubstep I've got into this guy...he's orange...he's red....he's dead? He's dead? I feel like Jules and Vincet in Pulp Fiction when all those bullets missed them.
My torn up T-bolt (now down to 5 lasers, 1 arm, and 28 percent armor) has taken down 2 almost intact Direwolves in one engagement, 415 tons of mech altogether, mostly solo, mostly Clan, half the enemy team. You see, fabulous powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic sword and....
Oh, then we lost on cap. (sad trombone).
The last enemy was another Timber Wolf I think, and unless it was on death's door knocking loudly (maybe a nice red CT with its owner off making a sandwich) I doubt I could have taken it. But man, for a minute there I was feeling badass. As Nick Kroll might say, it had been on in a manner very much like Donkey Kong.
