After a weekend of tournement play, and my abject failure to accomplish the 20, I have turned to another endeaver.

The one of the things the tournement taught me, aside from the fact I did too often, is that while my beloved HBK's are not particularly well suited to these events, I love them none the less.

So I have decided to fully equip, and module the whole line. I am going to build them all to their Quirk strengths. Now I dont find that this means that is the best way to play them, but its rather fun and gives them each a bit of personnality. Yes, even my Grid Iron I run with 1 Ultra and Pulse lasers. Actually, I rather enjoy driving him now, and adjust my expectations to what a good game is in my GI. My best games have been in the G and SP, as usual. My favorite mech to play at the moment is the P though, using Mediums and then ERL's as my ranged option. Makes for a fun balanced mech, that I can play as well as I play, on both closed and open maps.

The challenge will be for the two I have rarely played, the H and K. I am not a LRM guy, so that will be interesting, and I have never been much of an AC10 fan either. I wish instead it had been the Shotgun as its quirk.

Anyone else have the full line of HBK's?

I re-bought the HBK-G. J will be next.

I got my Victor this challenge. I really only used pulse lasers.

Wow, the LRM 10 on chain fire is machine gun mode.

The J, which has always been my favourite, is phenomenal with the quirks. Its less missile-boaty than the Trebs are, but has more direct firepower and doesn't need to fit an XL engine to be effective. The fire rate is insane, its pretty much non-stop if you chainfire, but I prefer to keep it lobbing both LRM10 salvos at once. I've been using this:

I'm hesitant to put Artemis on it because the best distance to use this is about 200m-400m from the target and I would have to sacrifice armour or heat efficiency to add it. It seems strange to say that it works best just baring out of its minimum range distance, but it does great, as long as your target is focusing on somebody other than you. You just keep dropping those LRM10s and if you see some internals, open up with your Medium Lasers. I've taken on healthy assault mechs with it an won many times now. It just anhillates anything that is out in the open and even works well for fighting in the city.

The SP seems pretty obvious for its quirks.

Maximum effectiveness of the quirks with max engine size, but you can't use both weapons systems at once, gotta pick between SRMs and MLs for each engagement.

My 4G:

A bit faster than most other 4Gs since most people use a STD200, but I don't use the ballistic slots for MGs as a result.

As for my 4H, haven't been able to really enjoy it with the AC10. Here's what it should look like to best use quirks:

Every time I bring that out, I'm tempted to just return to what I used to run on my 4H:

I just can't get 4H quirks to work for me.

Actually most people run it with the 250 engine which is faster and allows the armor upgrade because you don't have any heatsinks outside of the engine.
