Battletech universe is not all about war. We have too alliances, conspiration, politics, commerce, contracts... In this kind of setting where we stand in front of a map trying to decide our next unit move, we cant forgot the political results our moves will cause...

I think it would be interesting if we not take seat day by day fighting, losing and winning terrain till the end of days.

It would be interesting a sharp mind in politics can help to achieve the success.

Regards.

As I was saying to one of my roommates earlier today; "If this game turns out to be EVE Online with the boring point-and-click ship combat replaced with badass giant robot fights, I will be the happiest man on Earth."

Make it happen, Piranha. I know you've got it in you!

Yeah, harvesting for 2 months to get Jenner is the ideal game for me.

Come on, you know you want to drive that AgroMech during next summer and do pest control and straw bundling with it! Your handling of your actual BattleMech after that will have risen to new heights, I'm positive about that! :)

The BattleTech universe is chock-full of politics, intrigue, shifting allegiances and backstabbing (both political and literal).

It would be cool if the devs could incorporate that into the game (and I think they recognize how awesomesauce that would be) but I'm totally cool with setting up the core gameplay first, then expanding the game to incorporate that sort of thing.

Jajajaja,
I mean only politics not resources harvesting, at the end its a combat game, but in big scale warfare politics exists, i dont care if the resources are gathered automatically based on *** factors..

With the planetary conquest mode I can see how this is going to play out with a lot of politics, alliances, economics and war all being controlled by the players. I like this idea so far due to a number of factors the main two being roleplay and strategy.

It would be much better if they'd added on a campaign of it.

We may actually get some singleplayer aspects later on, they hinted at possible PvE events but said that they won't be ready at launch.

great input, but still ahead of the DEVS.

Speculation, keeps feeding the frenzy to continue firing up threads that do nothing but repeat things said a week ago that are now buried behind 15 pages of posts.

MWO needs room to breathe. I am as excited as the next, but you all have to admit, its getting a little out of hand.

To be honest Not really. Single player tends to only get played once by most players and then they hop online to test mech configs, and have a challenge as AI no matter what atm is still sub par to most players.

I think this approach is the best as the bulk of the actual Mechwarrior communities over the years have all been multiplayer. By focusing all their assets in to multiplayer it now allows them to have a much more refined and robust multiplayer which is the actual core play of Mechwarrior games. As Metro ^^ said they do plan on adding PvE later on (They better not be meaning my Clans > : (

Any PvE should be either a tutorial (for the new peeps) mission(s) or something that's a special event for all (e.g. clan invasion) the problem is once you go instanced it would be extremely hard to do persistent.

I'd love to see a Rift style world event but without the persistent 'MMO' setup, we're not going to get it.

Yes both at the same time (so clan/team match would be persistent and public grind would be instanced) would be very interesting, and kind of push people down the matchplay road (which is not terrible as long as they allow for variations in skill to play in match and don't just make it elite/end game players like WoT did).

But I see a mess of dev coding and issues pushing patches out, and if it ends up like WoTs Clan Battle (which is a disaster) that would be unfortunate.

I'd like the role warfare to include dropship pilot/manufacturer (a bit of crafting, anyone?) or arms dealer/commander (ability to control NPCs in instanced battles as well as special overview of team)/medic (MRB call for damanged teammates).

If only in team match, imagine the chaos a merc groupu suddently switching sides in the middle of a battle, when they control 2 of your drop ships and your MRBs?

hilarious.

speculations and whises is the only way we can go for now, i think it dont hurt the game to post our toughts about how we think the game would be. And maybe in the time, we point something the devs arent been thinking.

The player base of battletech universe cares a lot after the lore and mechanics of the core game remains... at least i do.

I cant stand the idea we can sit day by day looking scoreboards of kills and ladders, i think any battletech fan neither can.

I prefer intrigue, alliances, betrayals, and wars between actual player units over single player stories. I think MWO will be RICH with intrugue because its so player unit focused, will have persistence in planetary conquests, and will have all kinds of things for unit to do other than sit in the lobby between league matches.
