I installed MW4 the other day but have been unable to play it as it keeps asking me to put in the CD ROM disk. The problem is I put it in and then my drive scans it opens up and says no disk.
Does this mean my drive has gone bad? Is there a way to work around it?
Any useful input would be greatly appreciated.

Well, MW:4 Mercenaries is legally freeware now, so you can download it and play it if your original CDs aren't working.

i take it you mean MW4:vengence? As Mektek.net only has MW4:mercs on there.
If you haveing probs with the disk, do a search online for a no CD.exe for MW4:vengence, and that should solve any issues with starting the game.

It'll be way easier to find people to play if you get the free MW4:Mercs from mektek. Only thing to practice is hot mech on mech player action, since there is no pve in MWO. Unless, of course, you taking a stroll down memory lane for the heck of it.

You'll need to look up the installation guide on mektek's site, theres some hotfixes after you install the game.

As a work around depending on your level of geekdom you may be able to burn the disks to an .iso file and find a piece of software that allows you to mount .iso's as cd roms. install the game from the iso image or edit the registry for it too look at the mounting softwares drive letter. You could also change drive letters but this may cause issues with other software looking for a cd on the letter that was moved unless you did the sa

Are you using the MTX.exe thingy?

MW4Mercs is avail for free. Black Knight and Veng are not (that I am aware of)
MekTek.net has a download to get Mercs.
Process is basically simple.
On their (MekTek) homepage (roughly mid way down on the right) points to Mercs for free
1. download and install MekTek's client app MTX. After install (you dont have too, but I have found it works better) re-boot.
Run the app.
When it comes up click on the games avail tab.
You should see Mercs and AT1
click on Mercs and MTX will begin to work.
The process takes a bit, there is some 1.8gigs to download. be patient.
there will be a green status bar that runs along the bottom of MTX indicating progress.
2. Once the initial download completes, there are some additional updates. If your machine doesnt start the update process within 5 to 10 minutes after the initial download, I suggest you re-boot once again then restart MTX.
3. The initial download is version something ending in 027. Current rev is something ending in 030.
Let MTX update you to the current verions. The updates from 27 to 30 are pretty small and dont take very long (depending on your speed and the number of seeds)
4. After you are updated to version 030, I suggest (again, you dont have to, but I have had better luck doing so, re-boot)
5. After re-boot, click the icon for Mercs that is now on your desktop.
6. the 1st time it runs, it takes a bit, let it run. Windows Firewall blaocker MAY come up, unblock it by clicking the unblock button. (this allows you to play online if so inclined)
7. The settings box will come up. select your settings (you can use the advanced button to see more options)
8. The EULA will come up. accept it.
9. The Game starts.
10. Enjoy it.
If you decide to play on line you may have to open ports and such in your router. MekTek.net has guides for this in their forums. Sunderjunkies.com also have guides for this for several different types of routers and connections. check them out and good luck.

if the OP did mean mech4ven check here under parent directory for Ven files Index of ./Maps/
And if anyone has trouble with the mech4mercs download just post in the mektek forums and someone will help.
hope to see you all in the CYT servers.
if you have not played in a long time prepare for the school of hard knocks

Thank you everyone for all of the great replies. I was indeed referring to MW4 Vengeance. I have gone to the MekTec website and I did down load MW4 Mercenaries. It was rather fun. I was just trying to get back into the swing of the Mech Warrior game. Also I like the campaign modes, and yes I do realize the MWO will only be a FPO with no campaign mode.
I wanted to give a big thanks to Fynn and abetterpiolot for there suggestions.
