Generally I enjoy the challenges.
But this been literally a fail.
Maybe not for all, but I'm willing to bet most of us.
If multiple kills in a match counted I would enjoyed this.
I would love post post a wall of my games lost, but it would not let me.
The games with 2 or more kills were just a waste of effort.
And when I did back off to leave kill shots for the other players, I still lost the match
The terri-bads were out in full force.
Thanks for the premie time it was the only thing worth all the effort.
I'm gonna go play tetris now.
And no you can't have my stuff.

One of the few event weekends that they truly got done "right" was Halloween. That, and I guess the Shadow Hawk/Stormcrow sale. Those ones didn't cause players to do unusually stupid things in the name of fulfilling arbitrary leaderboard criteria, didn't require any grinding/poopsocking, and they didn't penalize players for getting an unlucky selection of teammates...

Quite honestly I knew the road to the Victor would be a tough on to fulfill as it relies to completely upon surviving the match. Since I don't "Lurm" 'it's difficult for me to survive intact when I'm actively contributing...

Conversely, I held out of playing for the 1-point to maximize the premium payout... I now have nearly 3 full days of premium to time to take advantage of.

I see what PGI was doing in regards to doing a little condition / response testing... Sadly we as a playing community after 2+ years of kill-or-be-killed play mechanics, it's tough to pull back on the reigns.

I don't know how to tell you diplomatically, so I'll be blunt. You failed hard in reading comprehension.

If you've given up on games because you didn't want to take more than one kill, you were the reason you lost these games.

Hey that's completely..... true.

I had to change away from that tactic (kinda) after losing far too many "should have won" matches. Learned to just continue walloping enemies because my surviving teammates were hiding somewhere 1500m away from the fight (pugging only, my RC lancemates always rock).

I don't understand all the crying. Yes, the challenge was actually a CHALLENGE. A pretty hard one, but you were getting an ASSAULT MECH and a MECH BAY and a MASSIVE XL ENGINE... and you can even sell the mech (be sure to strip it of everything first!).

That shouldn't come easy.

I didn't have this much of a problem with the challenge itself, but once again since its inception with the Elo system. If you, as a high Elo player, get mostly matched with pants on heads mentally challenged people, or people that never played this game before to "even" out the Elo of the other team, it gets damn frustrating. Playing this challenge with 3 to 5 people was a freaking chore. A little example:

Note to PGI: How a team was able to choose "HJ" as a tag goes beyond my comprehension.

I didn't get this until Sunday because Saturday I was sick and was running my Narcing Raven since I knew there would be lots of LRMs out there. Sunday I used the Mist Lynx and grinded it out in about 3 hours of game time.

Was actually a pretty easy event for light pilots XD

Halloween didn't really feel like a 'challenge' to me. This one did. I enjoyed both.

I could totally get behind a combination, though. Small, feel-good freebies with easily attainable requirements to encourage playing...and a relatively difficult goal for a 'big' reward like a mech.

This one just forced the fact of patience and watching what your team was doing way way way more than normal matches. THE most important key word in that was patience during the fight, and lets be realistic in the fact that 98% of the people playing this do not have it...

I saw nothing wrong with this challenge other than it was a lot more challenging than the rest have been. If people actually read the challenge PGI even stated this was their toughest challenge yet... They weren't lying... lol...

Well I'll be blunt also.
Dummy only one kill mattered per match regardless.
So I could have been a feckless kill stealin hog such as probably yourself.
Or do the team thing and share the wealth.
Which is not rewarded in a supposed team based game.
Congrats to those who had the luck and endurance to win the Victor.
I simply ran out of steam is all.
Shred head congrats if you won one, but I'm sure you did it the feckless kill stealing hog way.

I don't mind the challenge being tough, I don't mind not getting the Victor but I do mind how the challenge altered the gameplay. Unless challenges have a queue of their own (which won't happen) the rules should encourage "normal" gameplay, if not they disrupt it too much to simply ignore the challenge.

I'm wondering how much they thought this through. Most people are randomly queuing so they are likely to win half of their matches and lose half of their matches. That means if they are perfect on the wins it's going to take about 40 matches to beat the challenge. If you're not perfect (I sure am not) add another win and loss to your expectations for each win where you miss the kiill or die.

After 68 matches (35 losses and 33 wins) I finally finished the challenge. 13 wins where I either died or was not able to land the killing blow; 20 matches where I was happy and 48 where I was frustrated afterwards. I now have a new Victor and pulled in almost 20 million c-bills on top of it but now I don't feel like playing for a few days.

I don't know if they expected everyone to be able to finish it or if this was purposely placed in the reach of only people who had the time to really grind for it (like that 60 point warhorn) but I hope they pay attention to the people who disliked the challenge and at least let us know what they were thinking and what they expected the community's reaction to be.

I feel like I am going to start judging MWO challenges based on how outraged people get. The more the rage, the better the challenge because someone is obviously finding it... challenging.

He was saying that extra kills don't award extra points, NOT that 2 or more kills earns no points.

It was definitely challenging for me who has a negative KDR. I usually think "I did my job and dealt xxx damage, my mech is banged up so I'll just run up to someone's face and deal a bit more then die." At least twice I thought I'd just give up and not finish it due to strings of losses without points but I really wanted to complete it for the sake of completing it because it was challenging.
