Nope, I also had a number of solo matches where people really worked together to try and get a qualifying match for everyone.
Was a really refreshing experience, even if some players just ran away to hide after they got a kill and let the rest of the team work for the win.

Overall, this challenge felt more positive than some of the previous ones imho.

Was I the only one who saw a lot of improved behaviour? Friendly fire and TK's happen every day of the year, but this challenge was the first time I ever saw people getting their 1 kill and 1 assist, then assessing whether they were winning or losing. If they were winning, they would let others get their kills.

I saw lots of people just announcing in team chat. "I got my kill. Gonna let you guys take the others". People legging and disarming mechs and then leaving them for the team. You almost never see anyone ignore a disarmed mech in the solo queue, but I saw plenty of people holding fire when they'd stripped their target of armour and prepared the kill.

To all the gentlemen (and ladies) out there, who were saving kills for their teammates in the solo queue:

Yep! I was one of them. I was trying to make sure everyone got a kill..Well after I got mine of course :P.

Good to see acts of kindness, not long ago I was matched against a 12 man and our team was a 10 man w/ two pugs. I was one of the pugs and the 10 man allowed my locust 8 kills that drop. Good times :D

The only time I didn't share kills was in a particular conquest match where it was just me and two other guys left, one of whom was hiding. The other guy was seemed particularly incapable of killing anything and we were set to win on points if only we could survive. The opposing team slagged me and the hiding guy off for for eventually disappearing into the night, and implied that we probably had zero kills and weren't going to get any points. Between us we had 7 :)

I had maybe 5 of my 20 games with people actively sharing kills and asking before finishing off the last enemy / disco. I managed to nab a kill that way where even the enemy team told me where the disconnected player was.

For the most part though, in my experience it was a brutal and largely selfish challenge that tended to err on the side of frustration more than anything positive.

I saw it once. It was interesting as I was viewing another pilot who was certainly not partaking in the 'let the other guy get the kill'. The one who needed it did get it in the end, which was good.

Coincidentally it was the game after I got teamkilled 1 second prior to the last opposing mech being killed. :(

Infuriated me, as I hadn't even gotten one point yet, and that match I had carried the team...

Only played 9 games so far, still haven't gotten my point, couldn't fathom trying for the Victor.

I saw that behaviour in a couple of matches, found it very nice and tried to do the same for others.
At the moment, I am at 7 points after > 30 matches, I don't think that I can win the challenge but that is ok. I was planing to get the Victor mastery package eventually anyway. I wouldn't mind the free mechbay and C-Bills, though.

I did the challenge with gentleman's spirit...except the last match.... was very tired.
So I ended eating alive 5 enemies and 700 dmg in my cent.

WTH....at least a single match in a weekend!

In one game I 'accidentally' got 6 kills. I felt like such a a-hole. But I was cored and easy prey, I had to defend myself and badly damaged enemy mechs just came at me one by one (probably trying to take me down with them)!

My record was 4 accidents on Frozen City Night. First kill was a fully fresh DWF who walked by my AS7-S and ate two alphas in the ass. Then, seconds after I announced to the team that I have secured my kill and was going for assists next, a wild Cicada appeared. He had ECM, so I couldn't target it. I shot it in the leg. Turns out, both his CT and leg were exposed, and my single AC20 to the pinky toe that barely even managed to hit destroyed the mech. Oops #1. Not a moment later, a Centurion and a Kintaro come at me. Between the two of them, they manage to take out my left arm, but I nab the Centurion in the right torso with a full SRM15+AC20+3xMPL alpha, blowing up the XL engine contained within, and my team eats the Kintaro after I leg it. Oops#2. And then, out of nowhere, a Jagermech and Splatapult come and start shooting. Silly Splatapult uses Arm-Mounted Ammo! It's super-effective! Oops #3. I leg the Jagermech and limp away, now without a right leg, and full front armor exposed, with a light-orange CT. SRMs are gone, but my AC20 and two MPLs are still working, so I'm a zombie. The score is 11:7, or something like it. Team scatters looking for the last guy, leaving me alone, when suddenly... LOW SIGNAL. Oh ****. Spider comes from around the corner. Shoots at me with an ERPPC. Manages to miss, somehow. Alpha to the back of the face, Spider goes splat. Oops #4.
Was a memorable match, that one.

Your welcome OP. :) I have been piloting a light mech to try and help others get their Victor champion mechs without throwing matches or getting shot down on purpose. Using a commando, this isnt hard but at the same time trying to get my team the win is a bit tricky.

Kill stealing is hiding all game, cycling through targets to find the weak ones, then popping out an gaussing them for the final shot. I saw a guy during the weekend with 8 kills and under 150 damage. I know this is what he was doing because he popped me in the back to stop me from ripping the arms off a Centurion I was brawling, so I spent the rest of the match spectating him.

I can't say anyone ever saved a kill for me, but when I got the chance I tried to save kills for others. During one game on Tourmaline I zombied and legged an LRM Stalker so that a legged Atlas on my team could finish him off. Was a painful game to wait out.

I saw enough of this kind of cooperation in the solo queue to be pleasantly surprised.

when the enemy team is 6 down, and your whole team is focusing fire on the last few mechs one by one, and the same idiot's name keeps popping up as the last shooter.

I seen this alot to. Not to say I was totally selfless but I let a few go to share without a doubt and the idea of stealing from other players never entered my mind. Surprising this is even a problem to me.

I saw some good behaviour, a couple of guys that had their victors were helping people, props to you two, wish I could remember your names

However it was completely over shadowed by some very selfish play, TKing was on the up, so was hide and shut down, and running out of bounds.

Not to mention (oops I did) lights shadowing the big guys and holding fire for the KS

These kind of events should stop to be honest either remove the kill option and use another method, or get ride of the win, stay alive requirement or well something..to either make it less frustrating or remove the selfish.

I'd rather there not be challenges using the current format, than have them

Unfortunately I didn't see any kill sharing in the pug queue.

I saw a good many people sitting the back waiting until the guys in front beat someone to near death and then sniping off the kill, wash/rinse/repeat.

I ground out a good bit of cbills but no tourney mech for me.

See I see the lights shadowing the big guys as a GOOD thing. Yes, the motivation was not great, but the end result to the gameplay was.

As for the OP question, yes I saw it quite a bit. I also did it quite a bit. My general rul was to kill and do max damage until we were up by 3-4 and then just assist (leg, etc). Getting the win was still #1 and if that meant I had 3 kills, so be it. But after we had the edge, if I had my kill I would gladly just walk with the group, watching our backs to make sure people didnt die, etc.

I actually got so pissed off that I fired through and at team mates.

Like, I'm piloting a stalker. I say at the beginning of the match "don't block me in" So this dipshit blocks me as two timbers charge at me.

And when I DO turn around, it's the same guy I've been seeing HIDING IN A FRESH ATLAS the last three times I saw him on my team.

Needless to say, We both died, mostly because I ignored the timbers to focus on the real problem.

And a later match, an ECM bug went and hid on the far side of the map from the enemy team, and then called out the targets that went onto his side of river city: through the citadel from our team.

I got pissed off and shot him repeatedly. He wasn't contributing, I'd been playing for two hours for no points, and I was done with the bullshit that was going on.

As a general rule, I never fire on friendlies. Like, my highest team damage from the last challenge was 7 points. This time, not so much. But between gems like this and My entire team getting flanked by a Dire on tormaline Becasue they refused to move out of cover from the rocks, even when the ENTIRE OPPOSING FORCE WAS UNDER A UAV, I am done.

Just, **** this.

I provided many easy kills during this competition; I was trying to level my Mist Lynx.

I got at least half of my points in my Mist Lynx... :P

I feel like the majority of the people I saw just played like normal, until the last few mechs standing... Then it became a slow-paced, every-step-counts, game of half-panicked maneuvering. I didn't really see a lot of people hiding and often saw players who could have had their point if they did hide, but ended up dying at the end still helping to take down the last baddies.
