So I stumbled across a little gem called M.A.V. on Steam today.

It had a very successful kickstarter campaign, and has now been greenlit on Steam as an early access game.

Although I admit I haven't tried it out for myself (don't really feel like paying money for a game similar to what I'm already playing atm) the reviews and videos do look pretty good.

This little indie game is basically striving to have the persistent online game mode that Clan Warfare is aiming to be, off the bat. There seems to be a fair bit of content in terms of weapons etc. And overall it's an interesting attempt at a mech-like game.

What also stood out for me was the fact that it already contained "Robust AI bots that you can play against or with in both single and multiplayer". This is something that, although not a high priority, I do think MWO would ultimately benefit from.

Not only would AI bots be useful for training and new player experience (which sounds like it will be bumped up the priority list if MWO is headed to Steam), but it also has the potential to fill the gap for the solo online player, or friends only co-op player. A lot of people find PvP only very daunting.

As a final point on this, MWO is probably the only Mechwarrior title we will see for a while due to IP ownership. For this reason it would be nice if it could develop into more than just a PvP arena game. I'm not saying it needs to have a very in depth story or campaign, but something like what Warframe is doing atm would be good enough. Plus judging by Warframe, people will still be more than happy to spend real money on a PvE experience. So this would not be a waste of time and resources.

Basically just throw in planets with random missions (almost like CW) and provide bots to fight against solo, with friends, or in a public queue. I think this will provide the final layer of accessibility that the game needs. I've seen a lot of games (Warframe, LoL, Dota, Battlefield 2 to name a few) pull off arena fights with bots very successfully.

This might not happen soon, but it's something to put on the Christmas wishlist ^_^

Russ has already said that PVE and/or some sort of Solo Campaign is going to be one of their big priorities in 2015. So your wish may be granted in the not-too-distant future.

people have already discussed PVE and potential for what it could bring ALOT.

most can agree (assuming everything else is complete and delivered as promised and resources are split) that PVE would be a great addtion in almost any capacity. Id even love to just a see a basic 1 lance vs wave survival mode. Or a 1 lance to complete X objectives mode.

I'll be keeping an eye on M.A.V, its is for sure a chrome hounds 2.0.

Loved that game and it was a very fun tactical game with real role warfare.

"Big Priority" might be overstating it a bit. Russ said they'd "look into it" after CW was released. Considering it took them like 3 years to get CW going, I wouldn't expect to see anything as extensive as a full PvE mode for a similar time frame.

I get that people have discussed this a lot in other topics, but I just felt like bringing it up after looking at M.A.V.
It sounds like the devs are on the right track regarding persistent game modes and solid PvE options. And I think it's always worth looking at what other games are doing to get inspiration on how to implement things in your own game.

I do think that even tough it was mentioned in the dev vlog, PvE has only been somewhat of an afterthought so far. Everything up to now has pointed in the direction of a PvP battle arena like game. I'm not so sure that the game will ever head in that direction to be honest.

I think PGI should just replace those turrets with Urbanmechs toting either AC/ERLaser/Missile builds to engage interlopers at varying ranges (If they do give chase at an astonishing speed of 35kph they won't be going "too far" from base)

Ps: Worst part is, they'ed also release the Urbanmech as a available chassis so you wouldn't necessarily know which Urbie's are AI/Player controlled 100%
