It had a very successful kickstarter campaign, and has now been greenlit on Steam as an early access game.
Although I admit I haven't tried it out for myself (don't really feel like paying money for a game similar to what I'm already playing atm) the reviews and videos do look pretty good.
This little indie game is basically striving to have the persistent online game mode that Clan Warfare is aiming to be, off the bat. There seems to be a fair bit of content in terms of weapons etc. And overall it's an interesting attempt at a mech-like game.
What also stood out for me was the fact that it already contained "Robust AI bots that you can play against or with in both single and multiplayer". This is something that, although not a high priority, I do think MWO would ultimately benefit from.
Not only would AI bots be useful for training and new player experience (which sounds like it will be bumped up the priority list if MWO is headed to Steam), but it also has the potential to fill the gap for the solo online player, or friends only co-op player. A lot of people find PvP only very daunting.
As a final point on this, MWO is probably the only Mechwarrior title we will see for a while due to IP ownership. For this reason it would be nice if it could develop into more than just a PvP arena game. I'm not saying it needs to have a very in depth story or campaign, but something like what Warframe is doing atm would be good enough. Plus judging by Warframe, people will still be more than happy to spend real money on a PvE experience. So this would not be a waste of time and resources.
Basically just throw in planets with random missions (almost like CW) and provide bots to fight against solo, with friends, or in a public queue. I think this will provide the final layer of accessibility that the game needs. I've seen a lot of games (Warframe, LoL, Dota, Battlefield 2 to name a few) pull off arena fights with bots very successfully.
This might not happen soon, but it's something to put on the Christmas wishlist
