Fragile for three reasons:
1) Most of its firepower is in the arms. Arms are rather bulky and easy to hit.
ii) XL engine.
c) Side torsos are actually pretty large.
Sure, you can twist, and instead of getting killed, lose your laser arm. Or your ballistic arm.

Yup. You lose your lasers....eventually, most likely. Oddly, I usually last til the end with it. I can spread damage over the whole mech for days. And a VTR without it's lasers is still kicking out a decently low heat ac20 and srm 12, which combined with good mobility is plenty.

But it sounds like you want it to fit your playstyle, not to adapt your style to it's strengths.

Stop playing it like an Assault. Also play it like a large medium. You are not there to waddle into the fight like an Atlas and be the center of attention. You got a big engine. Use it.

I'm not trying to fit it into my playstyle, I'm trying to find what playstyle it fits. I gave up on playing it as an assault, but engaging and disengaging as a medium is not possible; too ponderous compared to the ~100kph mediums I'm used to, and JJs are really, really slow and predictible. I dunno, maybe it can find a place in a full team environment, where sharing information is common, and flanking is organized and utilized to full effect.

Reading this thread hurts...

Be glad you're playing with it after they removed all the movement penalties.

Get it Elited. Then learn how to jump thrust walk, learn how and when to torso twist, learn how to block with your shield arm, recognize weapon fire reload rates, learn to track with the triple launch tube config, profit. You don't have to worry about overheating after 15-20 seconds of sustained fighting on any map. Laugh when people shut down and you rip their rear to shreds.

As a brawler, this Mech forces you to learn how to actually play instead of standing around with your CT exposed Alpha'ing everything in sight.

you made yourself a bigger, tankier Cent AH, congrats.
If this is good or bad, you decide ;)

This is all very well but it's still outperformed by clan laser boats who can do the same damage or better, for less tonnage and in a lower class, with half the skill required (lasers are easy to fire compared to AC20).

Saying 'my buddy who's an MWO god can do well in it' is not a defense of this mech's capabilities.

First off he's not a god by any stretch of the imagination. We are both solidly middle of the pack players. I'm merely pointing out that this mech can do pretty well in a brawl. But like all < 95 ton mechs, position and timing, in short, skill is what makes this mech an excellent brawler.

Second, all clan mech are better than IS mechs by your definition. Which I agree with, however, saying that clan tech is superior is not an attack of this mech's capabilities.

it is tankier, since you got like 150 armor more + internal health. With an AC20 + 3xSRM4 you gotta go XL if you want the same speed as an Victor with AC20+3xSRM6

More armor but much bigger and cent still has better hitboxes. So not tankier.

lol, yeah, if you shoot a cent in the torso. Its 10x times faster to blow his legs off. And the Vic has great hitboxes, if it wouldnt the comp teams wouldnt use it.

Do they? It would be interesting to know, because all I found when searched - whales.

It's a terrible mech, I'm gonna do this with mine though and see how it goes.

Might aswell just use something else though, it's terrible.

Its not terrible. you just dont know how to use it.
And if you absolutely must use a std engine then this is a superior build to use : http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f0346fc3371073b

I get that it is tankier, and brawling is my playing style - but I can brawl with smaller faster mechs, and with better firepower.

So other than it brawls, and sort of jumps, and has more armour?

My point is it's an assault mech - and it needs to carry it's share of the heavy burden in place of another mech that could be filling the slot - we could be bringing an Atlas instead - or a BattleMaster?

I mean - this mech is huge - I'ld expect some nimbleness after elite - but other than intimidation of new players, what is it really worth? :) can't death from above... can't punch 'em in the face...

Get behind a Direwolf? I can get an Urbanmech to do that.... and with average hit reg be just as effective...

Oh sure - it used to be great - they say that about me as well:)

OK look, I got it for free right? - so don't look the gift horse in the mouth eh? But If I am going to elite this mech I have to buy two more of them and grind it out with much pain and criticism.... if not outright cursing and perhaps even shame.

and that's a serious investment right there.... the scorn of my lance mates, "oh look, we are fr***ed now, newbie brought a Victor..." that sort of thing...

What I want to know is should I go for it - or send this one to the glue factory and buy some nice fat cows for that pasture instead?

its crap. ppc nerfs and clan mechs make the victor useless.
