Actually, having a 240 engine means it should have a 91 degree/s while the Lynx has 80...

JJ wise, they will be slightly worse due to the 25 to 30 tonner. So, 52M instead of 62, mechlab rated. Not the greatest difference.

Hitboxes?

Well, those missiles are arm mounted, so it might have the same Koshi issue...but it also has not insignificant torso mounted weaponry.

Any downsides are insignificant compared to the 142Kph with more weapons and pod space.

Believe it or not, the Koshi should compare to it, since there is only 5 tons difference. Without quirks or changes, that simply won't be the case.

It's not JUST the speed, but the actual amount of twist.

the Griffin and Shadowhawk, both with 275 engines..... have 130º and 90º base twist, respectively.

I'm having a lot of good matches withh my Lynx since day one.
The "problem" is that only one configuration works for me (4 erml) and only one strategy every game.
So, having already elited them, I've already sold 2 chassis.

I have fun, but it's a difficult mech to do well in, you must pay attencion to hit adn disengage EVERY opponent, to be as much invisible as possible.
Doing always the same with always the same loadout....is boring.

That's my only complain.
I really would like MORE omnipod, so I would try more build.
The 8 Energy hardpoint McGrall mantioned, would be awesome, so we could try an 8ersl or something.

Lots of good points about the Lynx. I'm sort of having fun in mine. Really only with the C, because ECM. But I think I prefer my Raven 3X and my Spider 5D, and yes, my Mastered Kitfox (altho I like to LRM boat that LOL not ECM. LRM40 Kitfox is amusing n PUG)

I probably won't be touching it until the Clans quirk pass, and even then I might be hesitant. After all, since it's got both ECM and jets, PGI is gonna bump its tier rating up and also subtract two quirks from it. The MLX (and KFX, for that matter) will likely get futtbucked for quirks because of the dumb rule for penalizing JJs and ECM.

And what can they do, really? It's basically the Spider 5V. No matter if you give it 100% cooldown bonus for medium lasers, it's still terrible. At best, it becomes like the Catapult before they fixed cockpit size. A relatively good mech, with a certain chance of instant doom. Except you don't get insta-killed, you just get insta-disarmed. And you can't eject. And if you power down and disconnect, you get reported.

I honestly don't see how they can fix it. They should have just invented a PGI-original variant for MWO and given it some CT and ST hardpoints. It would have been the only thing that could make this mech anywhere near as useful as IS light mechs. Maybe that's what they'll do. In 2016.

First and foremost they need extra arm armor. This is different than internal structure, because internal structure will just receive a critical hit and explode instantly anyways, therefore nullifying any buff received.

I would start with something in the neighborhood of +8 to +12 armor points (not just %, but actually tacking on 8-12 extra points, bringing the total arm armor up to 24-28). Would still be easy to blow off due to their size relative to the body, but at least it would have more of a chance.

Beyond that, I dunno what else. I guess an extra speed boost could be in order, to help it skedaddle away from people trying to eat it. A +10% top speed quirk should do the trick, bringing its speed-tweaked total up to 136.1 kph. Still slow by light standards, but at least somewhat more squirrely.

I also thought about heat buffs to compensate for the Poordubs™ carried by it, but a mech like this isn't very suited to brawling for obvious reasons...might as well use that time in cover to cool off. Buffs to its Active Probe would help distinguish its role, i.e. even fasterer target info gathering and more ECM countering radius. Tack on an extra mech module slot and that should hopefully all make it much more worthwhile to drive.

For lulz, we could give its ballistic arm a 100% MG RoF quirk* so that its 2 MGs would have the same DPS as 3 MGs, which would still be just as pointless in the end but at least you got MOAR DAKKA!

*Yes, we do in fact have the code already in the game to modify MG RoF with quirks. The AMS Overload module proves this by increasing the RoF on AMS (which is different than a cooldown buff, because both guns have 0.0 cooldown and use a "rof" code attribute instead).

It would seem that you WHINERS have a serious case of the L2P. After all, I am extensively trained in gorilla warfare, and can do 2000 damage in my locust. It's THE PILOT, NOT THE MECH.

Maybe if you FREEBIRTHS spent more time ADAPTING AND OVERCOMING, you'd not feel a need to complain that a completely worthless gundam with arms the size of Texas, that PGI charges 30 dollars for, is so bad.

Anyone that can reach 1000 damage on a Myst Lynx can probably try out a FS9-A with 8 SPL and then wonder why they were hitting themselves so hard in the nuts until now

I actually dispute the MLX being the WORST mech in the game, since i actually quite enjoy playing it. Its bad, no question, but the Ice Fridge is IMO worse.. or at least less fun... having said that ive only found one build i don't hate on the MLX, the ECM PPC sniper. Still better than 0 builds i like, and at least its pretty.

i would really like an arm fix.. long before any clan quirks or anything.. like as a actual fix for something that is broken, if thats even possible

lol the amount of games where you just sit there useless with no arms watching the battle continues

unless maybe their playstyle means they are not very good at using a mech with a 200 meter max range.

Oh wait...not everyone fits into your cookie cutter mold nowai?!?!?!?!

I personally find the Locust a lot harder to play than the Mist Lynx. No jump jets, no arms. The Locust doesn't get disarmed as much, but I feel it's much easier to circle and harass targets in the Mist Lynx.

To be honest, I don't understand why PGI adds certain mechs to the game, knowing full well that they'll get smashed by pretty much all existing mechs. It's like adding a Volvo station wagon to a Need For Speed game. Why is it even there? For the lolz? For the 1% of players who appreciate the ability to play mechs they have TT miniatures of, even if they're terrible in MWO?

I honestly don't understand why PGI prefers to add bad mechs to this game, instead of making sure that all new mechs are relatively competitive. At this point, I don't think they're surprised when a mech like the Mist Lynx is underperforming. I can't quite imagine Paul kicking down Russ' door and saying:
"Russ, you'll never believe this! You know the latest 25 ton mech we added? The ECM light mech that has all its weaponry located in a single arm with 16 points of armour? It's actually not doing too hot."

The Locust carries a vastly superior payload within a vastly superior profile with vastly superior speed to the Mist Lynx. The Locust is so agile that it doesn't even need jump-jets to scale anything less than a vertical cliff face. The Mist Lynx can jump around all day, and that's great, but the Locust will have zero trouble taking it down and evading its fire. The Locust also dictates the terms of the engagement with its superior speed.

The Mist Lynx is better likened to a Commando with Jump Jets and a small engine. It's the same weight class and the hard-points are very similar in any omnipod configuration.

I do want an MLX, though, and this is the first time I've considered buying a Clan 'Mech. The LCT, which will always be my first and one true love, is no longer ultra-hard-mode; the MLX is.

As to the rest of your post: some of us just like the "bad" 'Mechs, sometimes precisely because they are "bad." I could drop in SHDs, SCRs, TBRs all day and do amazing things, but those would be the most boring games, ever.

I'll put it down to playstyle then. I've really tried hard to like the Locust, I appreciated the challenge when it was first out, but after a while I got too tired celebrating every 300 dmg 2 kill match like I'd just won the Formula One Grand Prix. Too many matches ended in instant death, it made it hard to appreciate the times that went well. Almost 200 matches in the Locust, and I still don't like it.

Tried 10 more matches after quirks were brought back, but... I still prefer the Mist Lynx. If you find the Mist Lynx harder than the Locust once you've mastered it, I'd be surprised.

Well there's a golden mean for me. I find the Tier 1 mechs boring as well. My go-to mechs are the Ravens (2X, 4X, Huginn) and the Awesomes. But the difference is that I can actually beat good players with those mechs. With the terrible mechs, I'm basically reduced to a hyenah, looking for the weakest link in the enemy team. Some DW with LRMs and LBXs, who got lost like a baby elephant and wandered into the wasteland.

Getting top score and 5 kills with my AWS-8Q or RVN-4X is much more enjoyable than celebrating a mediocre score and 1 kill in my Locust. Which is the best I can hope for with the Locust, unfortunately.

I prefer 6 kills and saving the match in my Vindicator. My "bad" mech of choice (oh wait...some nub listed the HBK-4G as tier 5.... thanks for that!!! Suckers!)

Between you and me, PGI turned the Huginn into a bird-legged slaughterhouse. I almost feel guilty piloting that thing now. When the unwashed masses find out how good it is, they will flood the battlefield and drown Dire Whales in a tidal wave of bullets and rockits.

Meanwhile, don't mind me in my Tier 5 victimbot. :)

The Ice Ferret can actually fend for itself vs the Mist Lynx, having similar characteristics, but actually can chase down the Myst Lynx AND run 3CERMEDs w/o issue (no extra DHS needed from the built in 12).

Surviving arty+airstrikes on this mech... might as well put your hands up in disgust.

There's a difference between "easy mode" and "hard mode". The mech is pretty much "super ultra hard nightmare mode" for the general masses. People have to guess to some degree how to play it, and it only works with a niche within a niche within a niche.

I would rather recommend the Commando over this mech, easily... and it's not even a pro-competitive mech.

Of course, with the upcoming double XP weekend... there might be a Locust run....
