As a current AMD user (I was on a budget, and AMD used to be awesome, what can I say)... I'd say, buy Intel.

Currently running an FX-6200, Radeon R9 270X 4GB, 8GB RAM... I average ~20 FPS, 1920x1200 with AA off, everything on Low. (Or medium. Or high... It doesn't really seem to matter.)

My old Phenom II x4 975 with the old ATI HD6950 had around twice the performance at Dx9 High Settings than your System shows - something between your System and MWO does not work well.

A share the above confusion about what Mantle has to do with Intel vs AMD. As Wired says, Mantle reduces CPU gaps because being a lower-level more efficient API has allowed it to reduce CPU overhead in general. That's why it also closes gaps on lower and higher end AMD CPUs, and gives the most benefit on underpowered APUs.

I have no idea where this idea comes from that somehow it's proof if some Intel conspiracy to do... something, that favors their CPUs. Yes, there was a time when Intel was biasing compilers to not use certain needed instruction sets for AMD chips, but there's no evidence that that continues today. In fact there was significant settlement over that between the two companies.

As a former FX8320 owner. Upgrading to an i7 4790k was the best thing I ever did. MWO seems to hate AMD CPU's I was getting 40-50fps with my FX chip but stuttering and fps drops in the 20's were far too often. The i7 has doubled that and ellimenated the stuttering and drops. The AMD was a good starter CPU because it was cheap and got the job done. However I will never go back to AMD. Also, this game DOES in fact use the hyperthreads of the i7.

This change...was just fantastic.

I went from ~15 FPS average while using thermal to 50+.

Smooth gameplay!

I average 60FPS, up from 25FPS. Nearly triple. Thanks for the recommendations.
