I was not informed by PGI that they would be adding my Raven 3L into the system as a champ mech. Thus they development team made several errors in building it for the community.

The proper way to set up that champ is:

Yes that's right the ammo is CASE! I know but its got a XL its still cased! You thank me latter if repair and rearm comes back. The legs get shot at a lot. Head is were the pilot sits.

Oh but its so slow! then take the ton from the CASE and add it to the ENG.

You have ECM so I don't need the AMS. Right now ECM is not as reliable. It's also for screening other mechs from LRM fire. If you don't want AMS take the 1.5tons add it to ammo or eng.

1 ton of SRM ammo! Yes learn to aim.

I can't possibly understand why you'd split the 2t ammo into different places and then caseing it, separately. Or why you'd even put case there in the first place but that might just be me. Here is a far better build with the same weapons RVN-3L(C)

As for the patch, great news with the bog as it was getting on my nerves.

how about firepower + safety version: RVN-3L(C)?

or just take the old good 2x LLs / ER-LLs + ECM loadout while going full speed :P

There's no point in running CASE with an XL (And little point to running it with a STD if you place right) as when an XL loses a side, you die anyway (and on a STD ammo should be in critical locations anyway, so you'd be dead regardless at that point).

It's just... occasionally, ammo explosion was the reason i lost my side torso. Maybe just me being paranoid...

CASE doesn't stop an ammo explosion.
Once one occurs, it simply stops it going further than that location.

I.E.
- IS CASE = Ammo Explosion in Arm/Torso (/Leg?) means you only lose that half of the mech.
- Clan CASE II = Ammo Explosion in that component, means you only lose that component.

This is often useful in limiting the amount of damage inflicting, or stopping the outright destruction of the mech.
In the instance of an IS mech with an XL engine, when it loses a Side Torso, and that part of the engine goes, the mech dies regardless, therefore making CASE practically useless.

With MWOs method of floating ammo retreival, and the nature of how CASE works, you're best off placing ammo in vital locations where possible (CT, Head) as when you lose those sections, you'll die anyway and so ammo explosions are not a concern there.

The next best location (generally) is the legs, due to the high amount of crit padding and low likelyhood of of an explosion + chance of regardless impending death when legged anyway.

Arms + Side Torsos are generally the last option in IS mechs.

In clans - it doesn't matter, this means putting ammo where the weapon's located, is a good option as then if you lose that section, you only lose ammo for that weapon.

This means something like this: RVN-3L(C) is more effective in MWO.

IMO, in a lot of ways, requiring ammo to be in the component of the weapon or the component over, would help balance a lot of mechs to some degree.
