It’s getting quite common in the solo queue to have at least one team member who never connects to the match (0 pingers) or, who crashes out at map load and never reconnects, or (rarely) who appears to be afk.
So my idea is this: if a player can be qualified as a DC-from-start then the first mech in their lance who is destroyed is respawned at the start location and the DC-from-start is kicked from the match.
How I would qualify a DC-from-start is as follows. Disconnects marked as such by the game are clearly DCs’. If the mech has not received any player input from the start of the match (an afk) they are counted as a DC-from-start. If a player disconnects after a grace period at the start of the match, say 10 seconds, then they aren’t counted as a DC-from-start. Players who DC after this grace period don’t qualify for the respawn--this is to prevent someone near death from disconnecting to give their team a fresh mech.
The reason for this is to try and mitigate the handicap of dropping without a full team.
