Players are being able to hit the armor of the backside as front. I am not sure how they are doing it but basically my Atlas has had it happen in two games. I was in one fight where my Atlas had no front torso armor left, but his rear armor was untouched. I turned my back to the enemy, but they was still able to hit front armor by aiming at the crotch back area of my mech. This exploit lets them ignore fresh armor and hit spots that should not be happening. It needs to be fixed asap. I am not sure if they are using hack that allows this or it's game mechanic problem hence the word exploit rather than hack.
Basically seeing it done time and again in game by lights. A heavy or assault mech will turn fresh armor to the enemy usually back armor that is undamaged. They will aim for the socket between the legs and stll be able to hit the exposed front armor even though they are shooting the mechs back armor which is usually fresh.
It is not strategy but an exploit that needs to be patched asap.

Doesn't need any fix as the whole hip assembly on the Atlas counts as front CT, always has been. There are more Mech's with similar hitboxes.

Shooting the crotch or butt of a mech is not an "exploit". If a mech has front CT on it's front pelvis, and you turn your upper torso away from enemy fire and they hit the front CT by shootiing the crotch, that's working as intended.
hotboxes are 3D structures, and while torso twisting is a valuable skill it is not perfect and mechs with front or rear CT on the hips is an intentional part of the system.

You'll want to check out this thread here, specifically...

The Dome of the Atlas' "Skull" and the groin both count as front CT and can be hit from beside or even behind depending on elevation and if your opponent is a good shot.
...and now you know
