I fully get that, I really do. I'm simply pointing out the inanity in this case of trying to stop the use of a tactic that tends to work, using the TT version as a base. In the TT, it's like chess. You can stop, think about what you want to do, utilize tanks, troops, artillary and air, and make a calculated move as a commander.

The video games are more like playing speed uno while skydiving. You are not a commander, necessarily, so it's your butt on the line, and all you have is what is in front of you.

I think they are going to set it up, through gameplay, maps, and the mechs themselves, that it's going to simply be a tool, available for use in certain situations, just like sniping, or LRM strikes.

The graphical and hardware limitations of the old games made it a dominating strategy then, but now, again, with the maps that we have seen...

Well, I like playing spotter, and I don't think I'll take on an Atlas, even by itself, any time soon, and I'm happy with that.

If they allow kicking Combat it should be ok.

Yeah no kidding. The common theme I'd tend to stick with here is that if you're an assault getting chipped away by a circle strafing light, My first question is "why the hell are you so far away from your lancemates?" then "why didn't you blow off one of his legs before he got so close?" then "why don't you just back up to some natural terrain obstacle or hill to prevent him getting out of your firing arc?" I mean seriously folks, it's all about being a better pilot and controlling the damage done and received with strategic maneuvering. If you're in 100 tons of firepower and get mauled by 30 tons of scout, clearly he was the better pilot and that's where the argument ends. He used what he had smarter than you used what you had- and you should work on your skills and combat planning.

Simple, stick with your mates and for another, a light shouldn't be at your feet if you and your team are working together properly.

As a light mech pilot, I want to take off your assault mech's arms in this game. Your arm aim might be fast and accurate enough to hit me and an assault can shred me with few hits. No way will I risk circling you unless I have reason to beleive you don't know what you're doing: it's way to easy for you to turm counter to my circle and take a potshot as I zip past, especially if you still have arms.

Risk vs return: guerilla tactics are a light's best bet.

If I manage to take your arms I still probably won't circle you, just not worth the risk of a lucky shot.

What I want to do is zip past your back and alpha an arm or back section on my way from cover to cover. Hopefully plant a narc on you in the process then while you're turning to find me my lancemates are rainning on your exposed & weakened back. When you turn to face them, I zip past again and force you into a crossfire...

I like the sound of this. SInce it doesn't sound like we're going to see melee combat, I think there should at least be some sort of collision damage and/or charge attacks. An Atlas running into a Flea would be like a semi smashing into a golf cart.
I like the flea running into the atlas, but NOT the atlas running into the flea

Anyone who ever played Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries/Vengeance mostly know that a single Flea (20 Tons) VS Atlas (100 Tons) will win againts the Atlas, because the Atlas can't target the Flea if it stick to the Atlas feet (The Atlas unable to rotate his torso Y Axis to shoot the small size Flea) and the Flea can shoot the Atlas legs till both destroyed without fear and the Atlas will blow up, judging from this, can Piranha Games prevent this happen in MWO?

MW4 was terrible for balance. 6 ER Large Daishi's come to mind.

MWO is a bit more balanced as you can naturally pitch your torso down (you can't hide under the mech) and with arms you have a very wide field of fire. The only mech in MWO that simply cannot even shoot at a light harassing it is a Stalker. Otherwise you have your work cut out for you when fighting an experienced pilot regardless of mech.
