Premium time active. 2.5XP still live. I may try the 3 LPL and AC20 as suggested.
But again, when CW hits I will never choose to take this into battle over my other Atlases. To each their own I guess!

I see more and more Atlai boating LRMs lately, you could always just keep it ranged only but with only 1M hardpoint, it would even be week at that. It is just an all around terrible variant. Ugh. I remember when I first started playing, I almost never saw an Atlas with LRMs and after piloting an Atlas... I can't imagine wanting to, seeing as how amazing the chassis is at brawling.
But really, if there's a missle hardpoint, people are more commonly using LRMs these days... as far as the solo queue goes.

At that time I kicked ass with this Mech, even with only a slightly changed stock loadout.
But then they changed the gauss rifle and with the 90% explosion chance + XL-Engine... this was the time when the Atlas-7K became weaker.
Now the Atlas-7K is still not useless, but among all the assault mechs, this variant is one of the worst.

I had it specced with two amses, and an lrm 20+artemis for trading with other lrm boats. and two large pulse lasers for close range personal defense.
I dont know if a single lrm20 is as competant as it used to be.

It's only purpose was back in closed beta when we had regular wipes and resetting MC pools, so what you did was spent your MC on a bunch of Atlas Ks and sell them for cbills to buy the mechs you actually wanted.

gauss + xl + it being an atlas ie the biggest stompy robot meant many a new player exploded within a few hits to a side torso!

Oh god I remember that
Games were won and lost based on how many terrible XL Ks your team got.

A brief history of hardpoints (Inner Sphere) - Originally, hardpoints were assigned to mechs in a very spartan manner. That is to say, if you look at the oldest mechs in the game, they have the fewest, least dynamic hardpoints (such as the Atlas). Newer mechs simply got more hardpoints, partially because the mechs came loaded to bear with a greater amount of weapons, but also, seemingly, because newer mechs demanded more versitility.
Old mechs, like the Atlas (the first Assault mech in Mechwarrior online) suffer from having very few hardpoints - in fact, every Atlas before the S had the same number of hardpoints. But the AS7-K was created back when NOT EVERY MECH had AMS. AMS itself was considered a weapon hardpoint - which is why the K has the least number of offensive hardpoints of any Assault mech in the game.
So why say all of this?
Instead of a Quirk pass, the Atlas models in general should be re-considered for their hardpoint configurations entirely.
What would fix the K without adding offensive weapon hardpoints?
Double down on AMS - add a 3rd AMS, ECM, and give it a 20-tube launcher for its LRMs.
