This is something that needs to be talked about, so far the only tutorial is movement. I do wish that the Tutorial system could have a bit more steps to offer the newer players. Like choosing four courses or making all of the steps mandatory to complete. When doing the tutorial there should be a voice and highlights to show and lecture you in-game about learning the steps. As with the other three courses, they would consist of Weapon Firing, Heat Management, and Damage Displays. I made letters next to the numbers to show how the player progresses towards the next step in order.

During each course, you would have an instructor that would lecture you about the following tutorials:

1.Movement Tutorial Course
  • 1a. Walking
  • 1b. Running
  • 1c. Reverse Movement
  • 1c. Turning
  • 1d. Jumping
  • 1e.Torso Twist
  • NOTE: Firing Weapons will be disabled for this course
2. Weapon Firing Tutorial Course
  • 2a. Learning the difference between Torso Weapons and Arm Weapons
  • 2b. Learning the difference between group-fire and chain-fire
3. Heat Management Tutorial System
  • 3a. Firing an Alpha Strike
  • 3b. Automatic Heat Rise to show new players the consequence of overheating
4. Damage Report Tutorial System
  • 4a. Targeting an Enemy
  • 4b. Damage Display Colors
  • 4c. Dummy (A.I. based) mech shoots at you to simulate damage
  • 4d. Component Destruction.
Any thoughts to this?

BIG YES! And to add to that: AI based tutorial match (like joined into random co-op server type thingy), mention of ghost heat and some limits of mechs (no not limits of a function you math nerds), changes to UI + mechlab tutorial, and a rework of Cadet Bonus (maybe still have that + allowed a first mech selection type thing).

The sky end of the Inner Sphere is the limit after all in first player experience! :)

It is a better alternative, than learning the hard way by getting thrown into groups and getting scolded at.
