I'll start by saying I love this franchise and the IP, but the game as it currently stands does not reflect the vision that I supported when this game began development (and began taking money).

It's getting there though, and as such I have a suggestion to help improve the CW experience. I like the ideas behind CW, I think they can be executed well but without a good matchmaker/faster drops, the game I don't think will survive very long (obviously my opinion).

I suggest the following: All battles are automatically defaulted to CW battles with an option to opt out into a skirmish fight that holds no weight or value. Not only that, but the option to defend/attack a single planet should actually be removed for anyone not in a 12 man pre-made group. Attacks and Defends will be evenly split among matches made across the planets in contention.

Example:

Let's say there's 4 planets up for grabs from Steiner. Players queue in a 1-4 man player queue and you're put into the match making queue like how skirmishes are now. Once enough players have been found for a match, the matchmaker then decides which of the 4 planets are going to be "played" for, with one side attacking or defending based on what's occurring in CW during that time. The match ends, people get bought into the system and their faction, everyone is happy. This does present a slight problem in my version of this solution, as only groups of 1-4 get to queue for the simple lobby. 12 man premades get a separate queue in which they only drop against other 12 man groups (or perhaps 10-12, this number can be arbitrarily adjusted based on player count and needs). This means medium groups of two lances, but not 3, may feel slighted. However, I feel that two separate lance drops will provide enough benefit.

This allows players to fight for control of planets, we can still have "seasons" if we want where we can see the fruits of our efforts from time period to time period as well, and everyone gets to participate. Part of the allure for me when I played a lot of PvP in early WoW vanilla days was the officer and ranked system of PvP. I fought hard to earn my rank and officer title, and I felt like I was an actual officer with proper rank within a world. I got special access to a building only certain others got. I was rewarded with access to in game items and titles. A similar reward structure with MWO would be highly beneficial if a mass adoption of CW were to happen, but the mass adoption needs to happen first. People won't care as much about holding a high ranking title in a game they don't see many people playing. The more people are playing and contributing, the more their place will matter (IMO of course).

As long as the solo-only public queue we currently have continues as is, there should be no problem.

Yeah but the solo queue doesn't queue fast enough for CW. It's great for anything else, but CW should be driving the game, not be an afterthought.
