SHD-2H
Standard 255 - 82KPH mastered
U-AC/5
2 MGs
2 SRM6
1 SRM4
1 ML

Snipe away at start, when end time arrives: rush and hug the enemy hard. Your SRMs and UAC5+MGs are well placed for point blank shotgun blasting. Who cares if you lose both torso: you have your zombie head SRM4!

SHD-2H

XL300 - 88KPH

AC 10
1 MPL
3 SRM-4

I've lost my taste for JJs but I see how they could be useful for a slower engine.

2k is where it's at for me. 3 Large Pulse Lasers, plenty of double heat sinks and a large XL engine.

When I want to cause tons of damage I take this guy. I try to say mobile and hammer away with my pulse lasers. I've got enough double heat sinks to allow for plenty of shots before I have to retreat to cool down. High mounted weapons also allow for 'poke and shoot' tactics. I've had a lot of really good games with my 2K (3+ kills and 700+ damage) more than every other mech I own.

The issue with your build is you are trying to brawl in a Shawk. They make for bad brawlers compared to other Medium mechs due to their poor agility. There are better options.

Shawk's are designed more has a sniper/flanker. SRM brawling is more of the Griffins role.

I own 8 Shadowhawks (got double 2H and 2K), these are some of my "keeper" builds, for various roles:

Sniper:
GAUSS(3tons),2xERLL,1xJJ, XL280 ...best on Grey Death and 2D variants (dual energy in left arm, same side as gauss)

GAUSS(3ton), ERPPC, 3-5xJJ, XL280....GD or 2D

GAUSS(3tons)+AC2(2tons)+2xML, 1JJ, XL280....only on 5M

3xERLL, STD275 ,1JJ, 16DHS .............on 2K

DPS:
UAC5(3tons)+AC5(2tons)+ERLL, 1JJ, XL280....on 2H or 5M

2xAC5(4-5tons)+LPLAS,1JJ, XL280...........on 2H or 5M

Poptart:

2xAC5(4-5tons)+(ER)PPC, 1JJ, XL280...on 2H or 5M

1xAC5(3tons)+2PPC, 1JJ, XL280...on 2D or Grey Death

1xAC10(2-3tons)+ 2PPC, 1JJ, XL255-265 ......on 2D or GD

Striker:

3xML, 3xASRM6(5tons), 2JJ, XL300, full armor, on 2K

Brawler:
AC20(4tons), 4xML(or SPL), STD260, 1JJ .....only on Grey Death

Great chassis, never boring

Doesnt that 260 make the Shawk a bit sluggish?

A bit more sluggish than usual 90-100 kph, but a lot more durable at close range, after all, 84 kph with STD260 is not so bad.

Note: I run STD builds only after the speed tweek.

I've been enjoying the Shadowhawks a lot lately. Just finished mastering them. I'm completely hooked by the 2D. Gauss + 2xERLL, xl260. I average at around 650 damage every match and often score over 100, which is way better than I ever did with my jagers. As a fairly new player I feel pretty pumped about finding a mech which suits my playstyle so well.

Gray Death with Gauss Rifle (40 shots) and 4 Medium Lasers. This thing wrecks face. For the first half I snipe away while watching the mini map for where support is needed. Late game I wade in, typically from behind or a flank, with the ML and remaining gauss. It is fast and powerful and the gauss works perfectly on that frame. It is a c bill generating machine.

I ran that same build for a while but switched to the AC10. The Gauss was a bit too vulnerable.
