You don't want to play with max settings. If you do, you'll be at a disadvantage to everyone else who runs at low and medium settings. They'll be able to see you... but you won't be able to see them.

Lol, yeah you don't want to run it at max. I understand why you might want to though, it can be a beautiful game.

Which is honestly quite sad to have to admit, because this game has some pretty nice eye candy when its cranked up.
That machine should be able to run on max settings, probably average around 40-50 fps give or take 10 fps.
CPU power and possibly video are your bottlenecks, could probably run medium/high settings at decent frames though.

You can run on near-max if you turn down just a couple of settings.
Environment to low will help with random atmospheric vision impairment. Effects and Particles (IIRC) will help with weapon impact effects, which can be blinding.
Personally, I keep Effects and Particles turned up and just keep Environment low.

I'm playing at max and enjoying it (and keeping my KD ration above 1.7 at the same time) so don't listen to the uber-meta-wannabe-competetive-crowd that much
I wish we would have even more eye-candy. Old lensflares in closed beta were so nice. The game looked more polished back then than now.

As someone who just dropped over 2k on a new rig just to play on low settings to see. I am a bit miffed still.
I spent that much to play MWO to see the candy and the enemy. Unfortunately you can only choose one.

I dont think so.
MWO max settings are quite demanding and not that pretty.

I have always played on max settings, although back when I had a gtx580 I had to turn shadows to medium. Now that I have a radeon 290, everythings max except for particles, as I recently found out they take up cpu power for some reason, so I turned it off for higher fps.
Immersion factor and enjoying the game are very important. I am a highly competitive pilot, but I do not play this game in 2015 and spend money on hardware just to turn all of the settings on low just because some other " competitive " people do.
Just like I dont copy and paste " competitive " meta builds from other players off the internet/in game. I make my own " competitive " meta mech builds. I spend the time when a new mech is released and create competitive builds on my own.
Do what you want, not what other people influence you to do. Enjoy the game the way YOU want to, not what other people tell you to do. Honestly keeping this game max graphics does not really put you at a disadvantage in my experience, and you wont feel like your playing this on a playstation 2.
