Man what a fantastic chassis, and I'm not just talking about the sweet Autoshotty D version!

I think that given it all to do over again I would have done better to make the Cent my first rig when I finally got back to playing last year.

-Sturdy
-Decent weapon variation
-Good agility
-Fun hero
-Friendly to lower Fps (real frustration when trying to use a Light fully)

Agreed. Centurions were the first chassis I mastered, the first mech I purchased (CN9-D was the first mech in my garage after my Founder mechs), first hero I purchased, and just in general one of my favorite mechs in the game.

I've even gone so far as to purchase 3 different unlockable camo patterns for them. Phranken (worn by the D), Woodland (worn by the A(C)), and Tiger (worn by the AL).

After a month spent in assaults exclusively, I finally jumped back into Bolt (my CN9-A) yesterday. Ahhh, bliss. Three kills in my first match, hit-and-runs, harassings, my fate almost entirely in my hands regarding what engagements I face. Still believe there is no better medium to XL in than a Centurion.

They are indeed kick arse fun. I have put the fear of a vengeful and unloving god in people with the YLW (because you know.. Yen Lo Wang is a god of death and suffering...).. Fast as sin and that AC/20 always pack a good punch.

Some time ago, I bought a YLW when it was on sale. I'd never piloted a Cent before. My response was exactly the same as the OP: Oh, my god. Why didn't anyone tell me how much FUN this mech is?

Of course, they did, I just didn't listen.

But yeah, Cent's, particularly the YLW but the rest too, are a ton of fun to play. Twisty, agile, hard hitting, tough. They're just fun.

YLW is by far the best out of the bunch i reckon the mix of large XL speed plus pinpoint of AC20 and double medium pulse.
YEN-LO-WANG
maybe drop to a XL295 and take the additional 1/2 ton of AC20, just depends on ammo useage.

All are a fun mech, though the D is lethal to lights so much fun chasing them with autoshotty LBX10

Is your Wang underperforming? Try XL Engines. For natural mech enhancement.

2 MPL? Bah! Go LPL, open your options up so you're not so reliant on being at REALLY short range. YEN-LO-WANG

Add AC20 range, LPL RoF modules for lols and synergy.

Or instead of an LPL just use two medium lasers, because they're better.

I hate mediums but the centurion is a decent mech. if only it was born a light or a heavy, then I might play it more.

I like my AL, always have since closed beta. Hate the gift one because it is too ammo dependant. Not sure what my third one will be, probably the one with the LB-10X quirks though I can't think which variant it is off hand.

As a CN9-veteran, it makes me sad to see so many Centurion pilots out there who avoid anything bigger than MGs in their ballistic arm in order to combine SRM6+Artemis with the biggest engine possible.

You're not a real CN9-pilot unless you have a massive AC. Gauss... is acceptable. LBX is good.

CN9-AH with 3 MGs?

Just recently decided to try this build because of the 2.5x XP weekend making it a little easier to grind out the skill tree (which still sucked, just not as much as usual) and it seems pretty good with the quirks now, although there are a number of ways I could change the build to perhaps make it better.

Best thing the centurions did was give us the Lo-Wang. So we can make childish jokes about the male reproductive organ.

I just began trying a new build for the CN9-AH so that I could finally elite my Centurions this last weekend during the 2.5 XP boost. After some hesitation due to running an XL engine, and nearly no back armor to speak of, it has turned out extremely well.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f62ab4c7851429d

2 UAC-5s and 2 SRM 4s. First two matches were about 650 damage done, no ammo left, and survival. I guess no one expects the high dakka Cent......
